2005 E320CDI too many repairs; husband wants to SELL/should we?

Queenelizabeth, my 06 CDI has 295k on it now. I've done a few repairs here and there. I have an issue now I've been working to resolve that's stumped me for a while. When people ask me about buying Mercedes, I typically tell them that If you are a DIY type, the repair & maintenance cost are reasonable. But it your the type that will take it to the MB shop for everything, you are going to pay top dollar. A good independent shop may be a good alternative. I personally have loved my 06 CDI but wouldn't want the Bluetec version. The 05/06 CDI are pretty easy to work on and seem to be well engineered. They are reliable in my experience. I'm hoping to get 500k out of mine.
However, if you've paid the kind of money you say recently, then my personal stories don't matter much. If you keep it, you'll have to get more aggressive about learning how to troubleshoot and repair yourself - or ask around and find a independent shop with good references. There are many former trained MB mechanics out there working in their own, or other shops that can do you right.
Just my thoughts.
