had the same problem a few months back, I think it was the fuel pressure sensors on the high pressure fuel rail, either the rear one or the one at the front, never got the chance to find out as it cured itself, the car would just stop, it started again easy enough, this lasted for a couple of weeks, when i took it to independant mercedes mechanic, they could not replicate the fault, no fault code showed up on their Star machine, so no charge, write as rain ever since.

1997 C220 Diesel STW

I've got the same problem with my Merc. Fuel dose meter going bad and distributer shaft position sensor's going bad too (read fault codes), only EPC lights up when I start after the glow plug light shuts off, not when i turn all power off (after pre-glowing) and then turn the key straight to start position. It doesn't smoke that bad, little bit of smoke coming out when accelerating hard. But that tells me somethig that the Lucas pump's going bad and needs to be replaced.

Also can you give a little info about these faults:

-Fault in CAN communication with traction system
-Clutch switch or starter lockout and reversing lamp switch
-receiving ECU
- brake assistant
- fuel type con. faulty

The machine called Reflex showed them like that, not any codes *bummer*. Do I need to get the car to the dealer and read the fault codes with STAR to get bettter view what's wrong with my car?
