Help please been using Biodiesel 5-20
Hi,
Bought my first Diesel last year (ML350 Bluetec) and like an idiot did not do enough research to know that here in the Midwest gas stations offer the bio diesel blend of 5-20. MB says warranty voids if using that and have to stick to 5 or under blend. In the process of looking for gas stations that offer that but there aren't that many.
My question is how to clean the mess now? I've been using this now since I bought it. Is there a fuel cleaner of some sort I can add to the tank to help? Will be using the correct fuel from now on. Nothing appears to be wrong with the car so far though. TIA

Out Of Control!!
Not to worry and and all the so called additives will do more harm that using the correct fuel.
Additionally, if your vehicle has the dredded PDF exhaust filter----make damn sure that you use the .51 engine oil type and not the .5----don't listen to the ole salts that poo poo that, because they wont have to spend the $2,500 to replace the DPF.

I have no idea what the second comment means. Please explain, I'm a novice at these subjects.
Thanks again for all your help.

"Thank you for your reply. So I should not worry that I have used a bioblend 5-20% fuel for 20000 miles? "
I assume you are of driving age and therefore have some sense of the cause and effects theory. That being the case, assuming that while using the fuel type you say you have used, you have also beaten your wife-----how do you reverse or turn back time to change your behavior------your answer to that question will answer your question.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I would think positively. ie the glass half full approach.
It was used for only 20,000 miles , a short time in the engines life.
In the 5 to 20 % blend, there is still 80 to 95 % mineral diesel !!
Mercedes Benz are always looking on the conservative side so there should be a good safety margin.
You never know using the 5- 20 blend may have given greater lubricity therefore longer life to your fuel pump
From now on you should maintain the car immaculately. Service everything regularly & even before time. Have a througher understanding of the maintenance schedule so you can be in charge of how & when it is serviced. Don't forget the full flush of the auto at 39,000 miles.
Good luck & report in when you have done 200,000 miles

Thank you. It has become very labor intensive here in IL to find pure diesel. I've been keeping a "favorite" gas stations log on the gas buddy app for android so this way my wife can use the proper fuel. I hope there is remedy soon, either with MB or local gas stations.

Dealers selling Diesels again in Illinois - are GLK250's OK with Biodiesel?
I noticed that the Illinois dealerships started carrying new diesels again - I see many with the GLK250's on their lots now. So is Mercedes starting to resign themselves to warranting new diesels sold in Illinois? Or is the 4 cylinder diesel more permissive of the higher blend?

Just make sure you use Mobil 1 5w-40 ESP formula. It is made for the MB diesel.

My question is what are all the Fed Ex Sprinter vans doing? Are they having problems too? And all the commercial uses of those vans? They use same engine as our V6. Would changing oil filter more often help?
