240d questions, take me to school
Long time listener first time caller.
just picked up a 81 240d 4spd car. It's mint. However it's my first diesel and I am not very familiar with fuel tolerances. I am a pretty capable mechanic, however I am looking for some guidelines and advice when it comes to these diesel cars. Soooo, I just bought this 240 and it came with WVO in the tank. I have no idea how long it has run wvo, and it appears to be totally stock, no warmers or anything. I am new to the VO stuff, so I am curious of a few questions and would greatly appreciate any help.
How well can the car run WVO/VO stock?
Can I mix diesel with current tank of WVO?
Can the indirect injection system really handle the gelling?
What kind of mixes do other typically use?
Is it safe to switch between pump diesel and WVO in the same tank.
Thanks a bunch!!

Welcome to the forum.
Lot of your question are location-dependent when you choose not to give one?
The older diesels will run on almost anything.
ATF, brake fluid,
WVO has less energy than diesel, so you will feel the difference.
I never went into WVO ownership as it turn too much hassle, but study the idea and straight WVO works only in warm weather and even then having fuel warming system is advised.
You should be able to mix the fuels, but again - I don't have personal experience.
