Lightbulb NOX Sensor Questions

I have a 2012 ML350 Bluetech (out of warranty) I am hoping I can get some assistance with 2 questions:
1. When replacing NOX sensors do you have to replace them in pairs?
- One mechanic said no, only replace the defective one. Another mechanic said to replace them both because a new more reliable NOX sensor is now available.
2. Can you recommend some reliable websites that I can source them from?
- I received a parts quote from a MB dealer for both NOX sensors: $836.92 and $760.46 (Canadian $$). It would be more if I don't turn in the replaced sensors, I am guessing they recycle them.
- I have found a couple websites in the US (I'm in Canada) after the exchange I would probably save about $200 a piece. Is there anything that I should look out for when ordering these parts? I normally let the mechanic deal with this stuff but if I can save $400 ordering the parts myself why not.

Thanks for your help!

Paid about $300 with them. Let us know if they ship to Canada?
I replaced 1 sensor on my 250 Bluetec. In my case had to take it to stealer for SCN coding.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, they don't ship internationally. I also confirmed with MB Customer care, they said that the years 2012 and older models don't have to be replaced in pairs. There is also a revised NOX sensor that is available for the 2013 and newer models.

If you have a friend in US, you can always use him to buy the part and send it to you. $400 savings is good incentive.
I am buying MB parts in Poland and in the past have send MB parts even to Germany.
Some parts are much cheaper in different countries and availability also plays role.

My Sprinter (OM642) required both to be replaced, signals too disparate from one new and one that had been run. Thank goodness it was under warranty then. Mercedes paid the bill but on the copy of warranty work I was given it showed a retail price of almost $800 each...for that price, well less than one actually I’d reflash and delete in a heartbeat but where I live Diesel’s are not emissions tested and a turbocharger qualifies as a “muffler” by interpreting Texas law.

Yeah, we don't have any testing up here in Quebec either. I'm considering an EGR/DEF/DPF delete as well. Probably as soon as my warranty runs out in October.

I promise, you will not regret this. Replace whole section from turbo back to post SCR stuff with straight pipe and reflash...you will love it!
