2000 220CDI - EGR / Vacuum

Hello!

So I have this issue with my car, the idle is hunting when cold, and with some RPM there is alot of black smoke. When the engine is 80C there is loss of power/hesitation and black smoke.
The thing is, when I block the vacuum to the EGR (before vacuum regulator) the issues goes away, and it runs with no problems. No bad idling, no black smoke, and no loss of power.

EGR and manifold was cleaned, swirl flaps was OK, there was some play but not much.
Can't find any vacuum or boost leaks. And there is no codes.

I'm out of ideas

New / Used (34000km) EGR
New MAF sensor
New MAP sensor
New vacuum regulator (EGR)

Is the EGR stuck open?

So your car (we didn’t get those here) has a vacuum pump...dreamy as I’d love to eliminate my SBC brakes provided I had a vacuum source. Sounds to me like EGR is likely stuck with carbon deposits. Time to kill it. My car smoked WAY more when EGR was allowed functionality

EGR is moving and it holds vacuum.

I live over the arctic circle so I would like to keep it.. I'll recheck everything again.

Thanks for the suggestions, and sorry for my broken english.

I recommend blanking them, best practice to block carbon and soot from your intake.
