Can bad O2 sensor 1 make sensor 2 bad?

Can driving with bad O2 sensor #1 make sensor #2 going bad?
That is on my 2008 Bluetec.
Got the code for upper O2 sensor. The part number that is on it become absolute, so I bought used replacement. The replacement was still showing the code, so I drove with it for some time before buying new Bosch sensor that suppose to be right replacement.
So now, when codes for sensor #1 finally cleaned, the code for sensor #2 appeared
Is it coincidence, or those cars are haunted?
