Awesome, glad it worked out for you. Question, is it a Malone tune? How/where did you find this shop?

Already I have paid out of pocket to replace Nox sensors since that wasn't covered, and right now I have a CEL 20BE1B output for heating element of adblue registered tank has a malfunction, which also is not covered by the CPO warranty. The Nox sensors were costly to replace and it looks like the adblue heater unit is also. I should've listened to a friend and ripped out the dpf/egr right when I got the car. Now instead of fixing the adblue tank heater (seems to be driving fine so far, but colder days are coming and im getting worried it will go into limp mode if the DEF stops flowing) i'd like to get the dpf and egr removed/bypassed and the car tuned. Preferably in a way that is reversible for when i sell the car. I've found a couple of places in southwest Ontario that do tuning, but nothing regarding the dpf or egr. I know this isn't allowed for street use and that may be why no place is advertising it, I'm not too worried since this isn't my daily driver. If necessary I would be willing to drive the car to Quebec to get this done as I think there are more options there, but in southwestern Ontario would be better and I'm sure there are plenty of places around.

Also, does anything that allows changing the type of tune on the fly (economy vs power) exist for the ML? while researching i saw a lot like that for pick up trucks. it would come with a little gps like display that would allow you to change the ecu tune for power or economy driving.

for tuning here are some places i found but haven't been able to get a hold of on the phone yet to discuss whether they would do the dpf/egr along with the tune...
Pfaff tuning does Renntech
JR Auto Tuning does Mega Speed
Eurocharged

any feedback/recommendations would be really appreciated. feel free to PM me if you're not comfortable posting a recommended shop/mechanic.

Going to also repost this in a few other sub-forums on MBWorld for hopefully more visibility.

thanks in advance

Contact Malone Tuning in BC, they'll refer you to their authorized dealers in your province.

I personally didn't go for any performance-enhancing programming (which for me is astounding). I just wanted to put all the odds on my side reliability-wise.

Peter, How is it so far with the deletes!? Any major issue!? An update would be appreciated, I am thinking of doing the same thing...

No issues at all for 2-1/2 years. Lately I've been getting black smoke on hard acceleration, have to have the trucj checked out. Some have told me it could be the injectors

GLK 250
Hi All, read through the entire thread and it does seem that removing the DEF is the way to go - no one here has reported any issues caused by removing it. I own a GLK 250 and the general consensus is that while the rest of the car is solid, the weak link is the emission system (def, sensors etc).

Only hesitation I would have is possibly being caught in an emissions (smog) test, dont see myself driving this car outside of Ontario and Quebec - have any of you had any concerns in relation to this? I dont realistically see where/how this test would come up but just thought I would ask this forum since many of you have been driving with delete for a few years.

Also, does anyone know a shop in and around the Greater Montreal Area (or actually even outside this area) which currently provides this service and has successfully done it? Would be much appreciated

it is a concern, but unlikely now that emissions tests arent required (ontario). It's also not my daily driver so im even less concerned. I did keep the original parts, so worst case i would have to go back to the shop and have them reverse it (id recommend the same). some people had the filter drilled through for the mod, which means if they ran into an issue they would have to buy a new filter.

Now that the thread is over 2 years old - lot of things changed.
US is having Bluetec settlement, where owners will not only get free upgrades, but up to $3600 reimbursement checks, all followed by 4 years extended warranty on most of the engine components.
Not bad for vehicles who can have hundreds of thousands miles on them (1 of my Sprinters logged 264k). That made all owners who deleted emission system scrambling to convert them back as it is not only the settlement benefits, but EPA is getting harder and harder on inspections, so driving a vehicle with deleted controls can kick you very hard in the future.
Will Canada follow? I think it is only matter of time. When Canada doesn't have that many "ambulance chasers" lawyers, the $80 mil US law firm is collecting will definitely make them thinking.
Than emission controls will come to each province sooner or later.
Coming to technical part. I have 1 of my Bluetec with DPF deleted from the past, where DPF were not available. NV smogs diesels every year and the car was passing the smog test on the rolls with 0 particulates. Meaning MB diesels don't emit particulates that I would worry about.
But I have DEF system still working and even I am not much of the chemist, I know that deleting DEF is emitting poisonous gases. Meaning you are poisoning your family, yourself and others when you delete it.

You're not required to take/pass a smog test outside of your province/state/country. Call Malone Tuning, they'll refer you to a local shop who works with them.

That's what 4 years warranty is for.
I am in the process of reversing DPF delete on my 4th Bluetec. I did the software in UK, so now found US technician who will reprogram ECU for me. Lucky me - new DPF is included in AEM, so I hope they will replace the hollowed one and clear CEL.
I bought 2nd ECU pretty cheap, so will have 2 of them in case 5 years in the feature (after warranty expires) I will have problem with DPF again.
In the mean time I will find good use for potential $14,000 MB is going to send me.
