Move Transmission to Neutral without Battery

Hey guys, I need to tow my car GL350 2012 and would like to know if there is a way to set the transmission on neutral without battery, I tried to do a couple of times with battery in and I could not put the transmission in neutral always jump back to park, also after you remove the key goes back to park too.
The car has seized engine and been park for a while. last time I checked it there were a lot of alarms on the cluster and the windows and seats stop working ( also radio and AC blower) so I charge the battery again but nothing happened.
I would like to leave it in neutral so I can move or tow from one place to another without the battery.
If someone could give me instruction on how to put the transmission in neutral mechanically I will appreciate. Thanks

Pretty sure you need a battery, I know on my W211 it’s required, starting car isn’t but key in the run position is? Doubt that’s very helpful, you DEFINITELY can use a different than stock battery, I had to use one from my Kia to move car once?

Not familiar with GL, but E of this year has 2nd battery that suppose to be just for that.
Dashboard mounted on E.

Most automatic transmissions are not lubricated when towing, so it is generally recommended that they not be towed more than 50 miles, even in neutral. If you are going farther the driveshaft should be disconnected.
