Red seal on PCV breather hose

Just replaced the fuel filter on my 2014 ML350BT. It went well but I noticed a bit of oil residue underneath the y-pipe connection to the turbo, so decided to replace both red seals with new ones from the dealer. (for reference the part numbers are A6420940180 for the main seal and A6420940580 for the smaller PCV connection)

However when I took it apart I noticed my existing seal for the PCV connector is different. It basically wraps around the entire T-connector. The part number is obscured by the band clamp on the other side, but I think it is A6420940680, yet this number yields nothing on Google.

I just ended up cleaning it up and reusing it. Has anyone seen this seal before?

Also how tight does the band clamp need to be? I couldn't find a torque value in WIS but someone said 3nm on a different forum. That felt too tight, more than I was comfortable applying to the plastic and tighter than it was originally...

FWIW........

The seal you show in the photo with the ears and band is the newer design. The older seal without the band would get soft, loose and or break/split and there have been reports that some have gotten sucked into the turbo charger- very expensive repair.

Thus the new design by MB

Sold as an assembly, not individual pieces.

I changed my PCV assembly to this new design, $115.00 assembly is better than several thousands for turbo charger rebuild/replacement.

Not a good idea to be cutting the band / trimming the ears or used the older style seal.

Regards

Joseph

Aftermarket come with rubber tee who suppose to solve all the problems. No real feedback yet.
