Check Adblue message - 2015 GLK250
After about 80k miles and all the dealer servicing, we have our first “check additive” (adblue) message. We have always had the dealer fill it.
I purchased the last 2.5gal of adblue from the local Autozone and added with no issues.
The message is still displayed. I have searched the web and this site and there are differing posts that range from “reset using the accelerator pedal” to “warning goes away after short drive”. Perhaps this differs based on year or model.
Questions :
Do you have to fill the tank to capacity to reset the warning? I know the tank is 7gal so perhaps I need to add more.
What level (gallons) does the check additive message appear?
Does anyone have experience resetting the warning message in a 2015 GLK250?
Any advice is appreciated.
thanks
OJ

1) It must be filled, or at least mostly filled, to reset the light
2) If you have had the AEM completed the vehicle will use more DEF. In that case, it's not surprising to see it appear now between scheduled visits.
3) DEF is wildly available. You'll also find it at Walmart, truck stops, and larger service stations.

Lot of report says that it takes some serious driving for the level sensor to reset.
Worse comes to worse, buying a little more of DEF and topping it off is not that hard?
