ELI5 - OM642. Good? Bad?
I found a 2012 ML350 with only 25K miles and wondering if I should pull the trigger or not.
From what I can understand the issues with the Adheater/EGR can be avoided if I just use the correct oil and do oil changes at 5K miles instead of 10K miles. And change the oil filter every 2.5K miles? Also buy only Diesel from Shell V-Power stations?
Worst case, If I do get these Adheater/EGR issues, I can just do the ECU firmware hack and just delete those components and not get any issues.
Can someone sum it up to me? Or should I just get a gasser however seems 80% of the ones for sale are all BlueTecs

In USA this site will give information about status of Mercedes-Benz Bluetec Update
https://bluetecupdate.mbusa.com/home
If it applies, it will follow with 4 years warranty on most of engine parts.
Hard to beat the deal.
OM642 is 20 years on the road and still produced. When it had weak points like oil cooler seals, or intake flaps, it is lovely performer.

PS: This ought to light a fire under some... LOL
