2012 ML350 Pre-Safe & SRS codes
Hello All,
I took my wife's 2012 ML 350 into a Commercial Tire for an oil change and tire service, as well as a battery replacement. They didn't have our tires in stock but they completed the oil and filter change, as well as the battery install. When I was leaving, there was an SRS malfunction code. They plugged in their computer and reset/cleared the code. We surmised it was because they had to take out the front passenger seat to remove and replace the battery. I received no codes after that.
Today, I had the tires installed and balanced and when I left, I got two error codes- "SRS Malfunction, Service Required," and "Pre-Safe Inoperative, See Operator's Manual."
After many attempts, there were not able to access the SRS system with their computer and thus were unable to clear the codes. Their diagnostic computer ran through the rest of the systems but didn't come up with anything. The vehicle performs fine on the road, and I didn't get any additional error codes.
I'll likely call a local dealer tomorrow and perhaps take it in, but I thought I'd check here in the meantime.
Thanks in advance for any assistance or suggestions you can offer.

Nature of the beast. Happen to me every couple of years as well.
Seat belts switches are most likely culprits.

Doing some reading and it seems like inconsistent voltage can throw that error code so it may be a good idea to replace both aux and main battery at the same time.
Also check to make sure that wiring harnesses, cables or relays were not disturbed during the battery change.

Friend of mine used to carry his bag on passenger seat and without the belt, that was triggering warnings.
He remedied it by finding belt buckle on JY and locking it in.
