Hit 300k miles

Don't mean to intrude (I'm from the W206 forum), but my brother just passed 300k miles with his 2016 E250 bluetec and I think it's amazing considering how much **** is thrown to modern Mercedes about how unreliable they are.

How do you drive it? Long distance runner or grocery getter? Oil change intervals? Any big issues in that time?

300k isn’t as impressive as doing it in 7 years. That’s a lot of driving. I just rolled 200k in my 99 e300 and feel like I drive a lot..

lot of highway commute, I would say 90%.
oil change every 5,000 miles, transmission fluids every 40,000 and whatever Mercedes suggests in between.
He replaced the engine mounts, an alternator and maybe a water pump or two.
He replaced the rotors only once and he’s about to replace them again.
Other than that, no problem whatsoever.

Thanks for posting about this! I was wondering how the OM651 US version holds up over time.

Congratulations to the brother.
My Bluetec is closing on 160k miles and since we don't commute anymore, slim chances I will get 300k in my life. (I plan to live till 120).

Can you ask him how often he changed the transmission fluid and differential oil?

Good to know. Thanks again for sharing this! I am assuming he has a RWD version?

He bought it here in US new in 2015, m.y. 2016.
at that time there were the E class 250 bluetec, GLK, GL and ML models on sale with the same diesel engine in US

edit: sorry I am mistaken, the GL still had the older 6 cylinder diesel.

Oh yeah understand the e250 I4 was around from like 2014 to 2016, Ive just never scene one used for sale with RWD, much less RWD and Manual trans. I know they have them overseas just never scene it here in the US. That would have been my preference

huh?

Half the E250's sold in the US were rear wheel drive. You had to pay more to get 4matic. What was special about the E250 was the optional availability of 4matic in a diesel.

No manuals to my knowledge.

Oh I totally understand that there were diesels with rwd (only talking diesels in diesel section), just saying that in 2023 finding a rwd diesel e250 is not exactly easy. Finding a rwd diesel e250 manual in the US is almost impossible (which is true). They were provided overseas obviously but very few if any were imported to US. Now finding a rwd E350 or E320 is another story.
