Roadtrip to Yellowstone with OM642
Road trip to Yellowstone National Park with 2016 GL350 at 106K miles, 2500 miles round trip. I took many long road trips with my X166, but never to such remote place. Drove 1000 miles in 16 hours each way with plenty of passing trunk/RV on 1 lane road, and 500 miles inside park loops. Engine was silky smooth the whole time, over high peak in rainstorm or sun.
Saw very many RVs there, mostly Mercedes based van diesel, powering these big vehicles up and down altitude. These Mercedes diesel engines must perform well for people to trust it enough to take a family to such remote places. Only a saw a handful of ford based RV, or Stelantis based RV.
Pay for maintenance and enjoy what you have. You may miss it when it is gone.
Cheers!

I bought my present Sprinter close to Yellowstone entrance 3 years ago.
OM642 engine, although for Sprinter it is detuned to 195 HP.
206,000 miles going strong.
Enjoy the drive
Padre Island National Seashore, TX. 30+ miles beyond the “4wd only” sign. No cell phone reception. No Facilities. Might go 3-4 hours without even seeing another vehicle pass by. Don’t know how any of us survived (we pushed the start button and drove it back up the island)

I had similar situation last winter, when I walked 5 miles in deep snow from my cabin. When I am fit to do it, it is not smart as with lack of phone service and no other people around, any incidents can trigger tragedy.
Still something that makes memories.
