P2015 Swirl Motor Sensor Resistor Bypass

I got the P2015 swirl motor error and my 2007 Gl320 (250k miles) went into limp mode last week. Watched a few Youtube videos showing how to bypass using a 4.7k ohm resistor. Seems to have fixed limp mode. One question I have is do I need to check if the swirl flaps are open? If so, is there an easy way to check that without having to remove a ton of parts or will it potentially harm the engine if I don't check and it is stuck closed?

One thread I came across. Looks like the resister thing is for once the arms or actuators are removed and you dont want a signal going to them but dont want a code either. With that cable unplugged your flaps arent going to cycle from the looks of it. In order to supply proper air flow you will need to verify/ensure the flaps are open. If they are closed or mostly closed your gonna get other problems or potentially a engine that wont run.

I dont have any experience with these personally so hopefully others chime in, just going on mechanical experience and looking at the pics of the setup. Looks like your invested in doing some work.

once the arm to the servo is removed, the rod connecting all the flaps together can be moved forward but must be wired open, using a piece of 18 ga. Copper wire, like Bell wire, Secured to any anchoring point forward. I actually used stainless steel aircraft safety wire, used for securing AN type bolts and nuts. Its a soft wire like copper wire.
