How low does oil level get before warning comes on?
Has anybody else measure how low the oil is when the "fill oil at next fuel filup" warning comes on?
We have a 2010 ML350 Bluetec, and I have been monitoring it's oil consumption. I have another thread here that talks more about that, but I'm currently waiting for the low oil light to come on and curious if anybody knows if it's 2 quarts, 2.5, 3?
I checked the oil the other day and it's near the bottom, but still visible. But mostly I'm worried that if that sensor dies I will run it too low.
Cheers,
Ian

you are not going to find that specific information in the owners manual and if you are that curious simply measure the amount of oil when the sensor goes off-------what is it

Check your oil every time you fill it up. Note the level when the light comes on. (What he said above). If it gets more than about 2 quarts low on an 8 quart crankcase, add oil and forget about the warning light.

On my MB the oil warning sensor is always oversensitive and I have to keep oil close to Max mark to avoid warning lights.
Most of the engines have 2l between Min and Max mark, but that is not standardized.
