4matic for E-class coupe?
Hi guys,
just joined the forum. I've been reading this forum for awhile,
but because I wanted to ask a question, I decided to join this forum.
I'm looking to buy an E-class coupe.
But, because I'm in upstate NY, I'm afraid of them RWD's.
I'm not so sure how they'll hold up against inches of snow in the area.
So I was wondering if MB is going to have 4matics for the coupes.
If not, how reliable are those RWD's in winters?
I'll have to drive it during the winters.
Thanks in advance for your comments

4matic
When I purchased my E350 coupe about 4 months ago, I was told by the dealer that the 4matic was standard on the sedan and is not available on the E class coupes. RWD is not that bad of a thing considering the traction control systems that are built into todays cars. I myself would prefer all wheel drive but I have owned many cars in the past that were only rear wheel drive prior to the availability of traction control and made it through many bad Ohio winters without any problems. It's my opinion you won't have any major handling/traction issues but of course the sedan with the 4matic would be more sure-footed on snowy roadways. As for my coupe it is not my primary vehicle so it will never see snow or for that matter rain. If you are dead set on the coupe instead of the sedan as I was than, go for it. You'll make it through the winter all right. I got the coupe for the sport look. I have owned 25 vehicles in my life so far, have never owned a sedan, and never will. Well that's my two cents worth. Good luck with your decision and let all of us know what you decide.

I'll echo that - I'm in Westchester County (north of NYC) and for the past 8 years have had no issues by switching to snow tires mounted on separate wheels - the vehicles were - CLK430, E55 and S63. Tirerack was great in making suggestions.
