Where's the battery!!

OK...I've found the battery contacts if I need to jump the car but, in the E350 coupe where do they put the battery itself?

For anyone who might be interested the battery in the E350 is located in the back corner of the engine compartment on the passengers side. It is located under a hugh plastic cover that is part of the cabin air intake system. The cover is held in place with 3 clips one on each side and one in the middle on the firewall side of the cover.

Thanks but on an internationally accessed forum "passenger side" is not a helpful description.

I was not being sarcastic or intentionally offensive. Just helping a helpful person to help as much as he can help more people who need help. That's too much help, no?

Yes I did. But I thought that someone of the top of their head would know. I was also trying to add some posts to this forum since it receives so few posts. Hence the question. As you can see I just looked at the car and found it. Really didn't need to look it up.

Why not ? Theres lots of stuff that swops side under the engine bay along with the steering. Brake servo, on a SL (R230) all the electronics swops over (passenger SAM, driver SAM etc)

I dont know if the battery swops side too on a W212/W207, but I suspect it does.

I flipped through the manual several times earlier this year before I made a long trip and failed to find the information there. Reading this thread, I tried again and still couldn't find it. I am however able to find the information in the on-line manual --> http://www4.mercedes-benz.com/manual...10e41986.shtml

It seems a lot of information in the on-line manual is missing in our US version hard copy.

If lots of stuff changes, the implication is that some doesn't. This surely makes my comment more apt, not less. 'Left' and 'Right' are definitive and can be qualified if you like by "in a lhd car" to take care of your point. I think most people would expect a brake servo to be on the side the brake pedal is. I'm not sure I even know what a driver and passenger SAM are but, given the task to find them, I'd look for them to be positioned accordingly.

Unlike you, however, I would not expect a battery to move unless to make room for something else that had to. Different handed sections of wiring loom and sheet metal add to complication and costs. I daresay you may counter with examples to disprove my assertion but the central point is we are here, in the main, to help each other and I'd rather help without any risk of ambiguity.

If I can answer a question based on something I've found elsewhere in the forum, I will do so. Others, despite knowing the answer, would insist the enquirer do a search, often using more keystrokes to do so than a simple answer would have necessitated. If I have been less help than I perhaps thought or I've given a potentially confusing or incorrect response, I am happy to be informed of the fact lest I repeat my indiscretion to someone else's cost or my own. I am therefore happy, in view of your objection, to qualify my original post by appending "on its own" to it, in the hope that it serves as a compromise solution acceptable to us both.

I didnt get an E350 2010 coupe owners manual when I purchsed it last yr off Ebay. Once I went to pick it up I discussed it and the person I dealt with said it would be sent but only the mats were sent. Now I'm not going to get worked up by contacting the Benz dealer in Mississippi. Ive been charging my iIPOD before I take my 3mile run and dont drive my car everyday so I guess now the battery is dead. Shes not turning over so now I need to locate the battery.

Owners Manuals are available on-line here: http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/servic...owners_manuals

While you're there, suggest you check out the entire Owner Support site.

Still not quite as convenient as being able to actually sit in the car with a manual in hand, when you're experimenting with controls, functions, etc.
