E350 Coupe
Huh!!!

This does seem a little strange. I checked the specs on both the E550 Coupe and the Cabrio and the Cabrio is actually heavier with a slightly higher drag coefficient. Engines, etc. are identical...beats me unless it had to do with temp, altitude etc. the tests were run at. Maybe the coupes driver weighted 400 lbs!

e550 is a fast car but I would say 0-60 at 5 seconds is more reasonable.

traction

specs show the final drive ratio is 2.82 on the 550 cab vs. 2.65 on the 550 coupe.

my 2008 WRX STI was fast stock and faster still when modded. The E550 is faster, dead stock. At least it pulls harder, all the time.

You're right - the Cdn website mistakenly shows both the 350 and 550 conv as having a 2.82 final drive ratio.

Easy; more weight at the rear does wonders for starting traction. The motors for the convertible's folding top, the top when folded down, and structural reinforcements are distributing more weight towards the back of the car and are helping the car jump off the line quicker.

This same circumstance happened with the E63 AMG sedan and E63 AMG wagon that C/D and R/T tested. Despite weighing over 400lbs more, the wagon matched the sedans 0-60 sprints because of the extra weight in the rear.

If the coupe and cabriolet raced from a 10 or 20 mph roll then the lighter e550 coupe will inevitably be quicker.
