ECoupe 500 Exhaust tips
Hey there,
can anyone clarify me about the exhaust tips of ECoupe 500? The tips are attached to the bumper as the sedan? Or are they together with their pots?

The exhaust tips on the 500/550 are connected to the rear diffuser; not connected to the exhaust system at all.

Shot at night with a flash so they aren't great, but I think you can get the general idea so as requested...
Especially in that last one you can kind of see that the start of the tip isn't connected, but is aligned.

And then click on any of the inventory and it shows the VIN, so you can check out the details of any car on the lot.
But now I'm curious, where do you go to get the part numbers for the build of any car based on the VIN?

As long as you have internet, you can have access to the EPC. https://epc.startekinfo.com/epc/start.jsp
BTW: I just checked it and it looks like the tip comes along with the rest of the exhaust, it doesn't have a separate part #. I might be wrong as I checked quickly.

Probably not... as seen above in the pics it seems that the tips are connected to the bumper... Anyone with more info on this?

Just because they are connected to the bumper doesn't mean they are offered separate. Here is a pic using a VIN off the link posted above. You can see where they offer the exhaust as one single piece, also the brackets to attach to the diffuser.

Yup, you are correct. Even though it looks like the tips are attached to the end of the exhaust in the picture above, they are not. I check the info for the rear bumper and what do you know.....the part #'s for the tips. My apologies for the confusion.

John, if possible, can you measure how wide the tips are at the widest point.

E350
As stated above, the tips are a separate part from the exhaust and from the bumper. Also, it is only the lower part of the bumper. the 'diffuser' if you will, which is different so there is no need to change the whole thing. I have not personally checked but I suspect the bumper part number for the E350 (and E200, E220, E250 in Europe) with AMG styling is the same as the E500/E550 but the two cars will have different 'diffusers' to accept either oval or trapezoid tips.
I'm being careful with my wording because I am not sure the smaller engined cars can be had with AMG/Sports styling in every market. Clearly, if you have the non-AMG styling (SE in Britain, Elegance in continental Europe), all parts of bumper assembly would need to be changed.

Using the same VIN, I checked the part # for the diffuser and it's 207 885 39 25 ($76 through parts.com). When I enter the # through the parts search it shows that it is used on the E500/E550 CGI in the states.

Because the tip is shaped like a parallelogram, that isn't the width from the left most point to the right most point of the tip as a whole, but it is the width across at any point across the middle of the tip (not the very top or bottom where it is slightly less due to curves corners).

so sorry if i sound like a dummy but just to clarify i currently own a eclass cabriolet 350 and i want to change my exhaust tail pipes to the trapezial ones found on the e550.
i have to order
A207 490 1627 - which is the left tail pipe cover
A207 490 1727 - which is the right tail pipe cover
and then
A207 885 3925 - the rear diffuser bumper that will now fit the shape for the trapezial exhaust as my current one has oval shapes.
has anyone done this modification and will the oval pipes just unscrew and the new ones screw back on.
and have i missed anything that i should know.
thanks people in advance
