After a research I found two options so far Quaife and Kleemann LSDs for E55 AMG. Does any one know if they will fit on C207 E550?

Any other options out there? Please help

Thanks

The Quaife LSD for C63 was on special a few months back for about $1k. My understanding was that this would work on the E as well.

It seems that there was an option for c63 to have an AMG limited slip diff available at the MB stealers for $4k. That would lock up to 40%.

Also there is a 60%LSD from Brabus

Not sure what the spec on the Quaife but it looks like people are happy with the transformation.

I also looked into the detroit locker from eaton but it's designed for American Vehicles. I wish there is something out there that is hassle free drop fit for the coupe. Does any one know the spec of the stock diff?

Please let us know if you came across any other option

I believe the pumpkin is the same on the C 63 as it is on the E-Coupe.

Looks like the E 550 has a 2.65 rear diff and the C 63 is 2.82.

How does this work? do we need to dismantle the transfer case and have it shipped to a Kleemann shop, presumably somewhere in Denmark and they would install the diff and ship it back to us? for 950 plus shipping?

Kleemann's diff is locks up to 40% not 100% but I'm sure you know that

If you are going for it please let us know how it goes

Thanks

I need a Quaife direct replacement for the OE diff gears, I've contacted every dealer and tuning shop for that matter none of them seem to know what would fit, even Quaife themselves.

The vehicle is still new, not many people are bothered with the terrible cornering or any enhancement to remedy the twitchy handling.

we need to take the plunge and send a OE diff to Quaife for them to make a LSD that would be a direct fit. It's been done before with c63 group of owners.

We need 10 to 15 owners to chip in to be able to pull this off

Not many people want their warranty to be voided.

Did you try wider than stock rear tires (275)? Did you put more pressure into your current tires - 40 front 45 rear? If you tried all above, did it help at all?

275's help but I still get wheelspin. I'm running 275/35/18 Conti DWS on C63 wheels for winter and 275/30/19 Goodyear F1 Asymmetric for summer.

Kleemann wants the ''pumpkin'' sent in...they have to do some machining for their LSD. If the Quaife is a direct fit, that would be my choice, though once installed, you're not likely to revert to stock (labor costs as much as the part).

I have an email address that Quaife UK gave me to follow up on the proper SKU for our cars. Birds Garage in the UK....send them your VIN and they'll give you the P/N.

I got a quote from Bird Garage in UK for Quaife that is supposedly a direct replacement for the OE part.

Total including shipping is 1080 quid which is around C$1700. The quote include output seals but did not list the part no. despite my request.

Any UK owners in this forum who did upgrades for E500 or E350 coupes with Bird's Garage?

Higher pressures will reduce traction. 45 psi rears should spin all day long. I spin to redline in 1st with my 285 wide rears @ 35 psi. I usually run about 25 psi in the back.

The part no. for C207 E550 Coupe for the rear axle housing including diff is 204-350-28-14, gear ratio is 2.65

Housing is not sold separately

Can any one tell if the housing is shared with any other model? The first 3 digits indicate that it cold be C class

25psi? A. first pothole - byebye wheels. B. 25 is not enough psi to support car load. C. driving at high speed at freeway, blow out guaranteed - since its at the rear, speen out guaranteed too. Great advice, but no thanks.

I got confirmation from Wavetrac that model #48.309.185WK for 215 axle will fit on the E550 c207.

Any one has experience with wavetrac? Which is better Wavetrac or Quaife?

It will support the weight of the car, it just takes more square inches to do it, which is the whole purpose of getting more rubber on the asphault.
At sustained higher speeds, you have more heat because of more friction though.
