Unhappy Keyless Go issues

I have a 2010 E coupe purchased in July, 2009. I currently have almost 20,000 miles on the car, so I am due for my 2nd service in a month or so.

The following has happened to me regarding the Keyless Go option from the time I purchased my car:

At the 4,500 mile mark, my wife and I drove to San Francisco. We stopped at Pismo Beach, about 150 miles or so from Los Angeles to visit a friend. We stayed for about 1/2 hour. The temperature was in the low 50's or so. When we got in and I tried to start the car, the engine cranked but did not turn over (this is using the keyless go function). I waited a few seconds and tried it again. Again, it did not turn over. Finally, after another try, the engine started and everything was fine for the rest of the trip and beyond.

At the 15,000 mile mark, I attempted to start my car in the morning to go to work. It was, again, in the low 50's or high 40's. I had the same issue...and, again, I was finally able to start the car and everything was fine going forward.

At almost the 20,000 mark, again we went to San Francisco this past weekend. Driving back from SF, we stopped in Pismo to put gas in the car. After putting gas in the car, we drove a block to a market. We were out of the car for about 1/2 hour or so. It was really cold...maybe low to mid 40's. I went to open the car using the keyless go (grabbed the handle) and the car door would not respond. The car would not open. I tried several times and still no response. I had to open the car by manually pressing the button on the key fob in my hand. The car started fine and had no issues since.

Obviously, this will be a discussion at the dealership. But, anyone with a history of the keyless go function in other Mercedes have any insight as to what's up?

Thanks

Bob

I have had the same problem with my E350 the last week or so. It's been cold here, near Toronto, in the 20's. Same thing, door handle wouldn't work had to use the key fob and the no start issue. My message center said it couldn't find the key. Had to take out the pushbutton and use the key to start 3 times. Will be calling the dealer in a day or so.

Mine has done that, but changing my key battery solved the issue. It's starts doing that right before you get the low key battery warning in the MFD. I've had my car since august 2009 and I'm on my 3rd key battery. Looks like winter puts stress on the system.

I would hope the battery would last longer than 5 months though. Got my 2011 on July 30th. I was thinking cold weather as well, but, the car's in my garage and key in the house and it wouldn't work.

My first battery went dead in 5 months. I bought the car in august of 2009. By December 2009 it was acting funny and I got the low battery warning in January. It's possible. The second battery I used lasted a full year--until the temperature started to drop again. The battery in the fob is a just a standard watch battery and it seems that there is quite a bit of communication between the key and the car--maybe more than in my previous keyless cars (Lexus IS350 and ES350). I changed my battery to a lithium based long-life battery this time to see if that will make a difference in lifespan. I don't know. Just turns out that i had similar symptoms and changing the key battery resolved them no problem.

That was my first thought. Then I figured it's new can't be that!! You are probably right though.

Keyless Go Issues

I have a 2011 E350 that is two weeks old. I have the same problem with the added problem that once the door is unlocked at times can not start the engine and then some times if start can not take the gear out of N.

Dealer has looked at it three times and has been no help.

I have found that when it happens, i use the key fob to do anything, lock, unlock and then it works again. So not battery, just seems to not recognize the fob. Using the fob reset the system. I guess

Keyless Go issues

Thanks for your reply.

I returned to the dealer for the fourth time with my problems. This time I feel that they finally tried to solve my problems. The invoice states: "SDS. Check for Codes Performed Sooftware Flash to Front and Rear SAMS and Intrograted Instrumnt Cluster".

Has worked for one day.

I've had all the issues above including the can't put the car in gear, all with a new battery so I don't think the battery is the whole issue, I also had the mid city remote start installed and the remote starter losses it's programing every few days
