Front license plate
Just thought i'd post since I had recently put a front plate on using Larry at larry@moweraxle.com set up. Received a ticket for no front plate the other day so felt this was the best option. After the "protect and serve" heat dies down ill put it in the trunk for the moment when i have to use the " oh sorry officer left it off after washing the car"![naughty](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/naughty.gif)
The kit shipped very quickly and was very well packaged. It looks great and works well much better than drilling the bumper.

.....hence the reason I ran without a plate to begin with. I like the look of the car with no plate but the constabulary seem to have a penchant for targeting those running without a plate. I don't want to drill the bumper and mount the factory bracket either.

Personally I don't like the gaping hole it leaves when you look from the top or side. Perhaps if you had drilled an exact hole in the cover it would look better.

front license plate
Even though I went 15 years on my old car without a front plate and without a ticket (Southern California) when I got my new E350 plates last month I decided I shouldn't push my luck and should mount the front plate. I still didn't want holes drilled in the front so I got the supplied front plate holder and modified it to fit a couple of suction cups. The bottom part of the plate holder fits into the plastic front grill and the suction cups (instead of the 2 protrusions that would go into the holes) hold up the top. Works great and can be easily removed whenever.

After having this set up for a few weeks I've discovered that the suction cups will lose their grip after awhile. It's unpredictable. Took a long weekend, 500 mile trip with the plate holding the whole time. Then after just driving around town a few days it came loose. (Glad I reinforced the bottom brackets with wire so the plate doesn't fall off). Nothing a little spit won't fix but it's a little annoying that I have to keep sticking it back up. Still better than holes, though.
