2012 E550 Coupe
Newbie here...just ordered 2012 E550 Coupe...

Hi all,

Sold a C6 Corvette and just ordered a 2012 E550 Coupe. We got lucky and got one of two allocated for my dealer this year. Black over black, P2 package, Driver Assist, Parktronic, Appearance Package, special order Black Ash dash trim, Illuminated Door Sills. It won't be produced until sometime in October with expected delivery in December. I drove the CLS with the new 402 HP twin-turbo and was very impressed. It should run even stronger in the (slightly) lighter E Class. It's gonna be a long wait!

Turbo opens up easy power increases, just a computer download to the ECU. It will be cooool.

Good choice getting the '12, it will be here before you know it! Big step up in quality/craftsmanship from the vette.

Can't really complain about the Vette. It was a good car but I agre the 550 will be a big step up. I used to have a 2004 CLK that was a great car.

I've always had a think for v8 clks, loved the 1999-2002 body style best but loved the later pillarless design.

Welcome to the forum.

That's a great choice and I know you'll love it. Long wait, but well worth it.

Please check back in when you take delivery to post pix and give your driving impressions. The new V6 continues to impress me with its responsiveness through a broad range of driving speeds. I can only dream about what that turbo V8 will be like in the 550!

I am considering ordering a 2012 e550 coupe as well. Did you end up paying MSRP, or were you able to whittle them down a little. Edmunds says the TMV for e350 coupes is about $1500 off of MSRP. Any help appreciated.

I went in knowing that the E550 was going to be non-existent until at least October, so I didn't expect any kind of "dealing" and I was right. They said they best they could do was $500 off MSRP but since we had to order the car, the paper work isn't even official yet. We'll see what happens when we go to close the deal. Since I got one of only two allocated to my dealer for this year, my guess is it'll be MSRP.

Got my 2012 E550 convertible for $500 over invoice without too much haggling. Every dealer I talked to were willing to do it for $1000 over invoice. Invoice to MSRP is $5-6k difference so definitely worth asking around to get a better deal.

I just ordered a 2012 E550 Coupe, too and can't wait the 2 - 3 months until she arrives! Mine has the Designo two-tone interior and the Magno Cashmere matte white paint. Should be gorgeous! Same as the O.P., I had a C6 Corvette but that was 2006-08 and there have been quite a number of cars since. Just curious: how happy is the O.P. with his new car and is the honeymoon over or is the car still a thrill?

We've had our '12 E550 C since December. The car is still a thrill: for my wife and me.

I have a 12' E550 C on order with Designo Sand/Black two tone. All options. Does anyone have a pic of a similar car? We only had the dealer Designo website to go off of. Thx.

I have the same interior on order in my '12 E550 C and the exterior is matte white (Magno Cashmere). I took the attached pic of an E350 C in their showroom which I thought was drop dead gorgeous and which prompted me to order the 550.

Plus, I found this on Google:

Very nice choice! I'm curious to see how these E550 coupes will perform with an ECU tune. That v8tt is a beast of a motor!

I personally don't think it's necessary. I had a 2011 Audi R8 Spyder V10 which I sold recently because I wasn't driving it very much and it had gobs of power and was very fast but I never really had much chance to use all that power. For a daily driver, the power in the 550 should be more than adequate for me.
