I have not had any issues with E-Class vehicles. I will tell you that getting some packages on C-Class vehicles and GLK’s is very challenging right now. Some of the blogs can be a bit dramatic. We were told that the GL’s would come in with a big hole in the dash and our technician would install the headunit here. We never saw that and they all came in with everything as it should be. Think about the alternative though. Can you imagine shutting down an auto plant because the hood emblem guy got behind?  Everyone go home… we just ran out of vanity mirrors. I guess it’s the best way they could keep production close to demand without disrupting the whole chain of distribution. The E-Class cars I see coming are all there! Your vehicle is currently showing Nov 10-20 production slot. I’ll let you know when it goes in and VIN is issued.
I echo the Tsunami effects to the car (and other) companies.

For car companies, I guess Mercedes is not the only one that has parts shortage. Last month, I was at the Porsche dealer, a fleet of brand new Cayenne's just arrived from the factory.

The salesman told me that all of the cars had the backup camera missing, because the Japanese company which made the backup camera was destroyed by the Tsunami.

He said that the customers will drive their brand new Cayenne without the backup camera, and later when (no estimated date yet) the backup camera supply resumes, the dealer will ask all the customers to bring in their Cayenne's to have the camera installed.

When I looked at the salesman's face, it seemed had just been spat by all the new Cayenne customers on the phone, when he broke the news to them...

Regards,

The package price was not reduced in account of the disc player being single.

.............Just saw a bird poop on my car dammit!
Good luck and please let us know the outcome.

Say, isn't bird poop supposed to be good luck? Maybe that's only when it lands on your head - not your Benz.

LOL Not sure bird crap landing on anything is good luck but that's what people say to make you feel better about it.
And yes we sent emails to respective MB divisions regarding our displeasure in the CAR features that were missing. She has not expressed any displeasure in me ....... yet!

[QUOTE=Socaboy;4883902]the other thing is the heated side mirrors? how is it activated? The manual makes no mention of it and this should be a feature as well.QUOTE]

On my w209, the heat on the side mirrors are self-activted. When the outside temperature reaches a certain degree, the heaters will be turn on automatically. You can check by touching the side mirrors in the morning, they are warm to the touch.

I, myself, never like the hockey stick LED on the 2011 model MB. The 2012 horizontal LED looks much better.

Sorry to hear about your problems, but why did you take delivery of the vehicle if it wasn't exactly what you ordered? You would have had a lot more leverage to correct these issues if you never took the car off the lot.

The exterior mirrors are automatically heated if the rear window heating is switched on and the outside temperature is low.

And the 2013 ones won't have the horizontal LEDs, they'll be integrated into the main light clusters.

As my pervious post, I prefer the new striaght line LED layout.
IMO. The hockey stick looks too much of a bolt-on. It does not look integrated as OE to the car. Of course, this is my own opinion.

Not just yours. Mine too. That's exactly how I would describe my own feelings.

I do like the hockey sticks for their uniqueness and I'd have been OK with them, had I bought a 2010 as originally planned. But IMO the new DRL's do look better integrated.

Of course, that's why they make 77 beeeeellion flavors of ice cream.

Another vote for the straight line - no offense, but the hockey stick LEDs look like JDM eBay stuff... and if those are the LEDs for 2013 in the above spy picture, I'm so glad I got my order in now...

straight or hockey stick, who cares? i like the hockey stick better. more unique.
the CD changer problem was def caused by tsunami. would you rather wait a year to get your car with 6 disc or get it now with one?
btw, i have almost 40k miles on my 2010 E550 coupe, and the quality of the interior shows ZERO wear and tear. and the engine and stuff is all broken in. this is by far the best car i have owned.

I guess if I got stuck with the hockey sticks, I'd have to say I like them too...

BTW BenzMan369 - My E350 Black, red/blk, blk ash, P1, appearence pkg. is being built this week... I guess I have about 30 days before I see it... Just wanted you to know your pix were the ones that made go with the color combo - it looks great!

"stuck" ? lol

like straight LED's are soooooooo much better? i think it makes zero difference unless you're really into people saying "oooh, straight LED's on that car coming towards me, must be brand new!" pshhsshshshshsh

Easy, easy - I'm just poking a (hockey) stick, at you if you're happy with the "old skool" LEDs then that's all that matters...

You're right though, it really doesn't make a diffrence... I'd be happy with either car. I'm just using mine to trade to a 2014 CLS in about 18 months anyway... and it better have some killer LEDs....

Thanks very much for telling me that. As a newbie, I had so much help from others here before I bought. It's nice to be able to return the favor and I'm glad to know the pix were helpful. I know you're going to love the car when you get it.

This is the first car I've ever bought with an interior that I ordered sight-unseen. There were no red/black leather E coupes or cabs in the U.S. to see when I signed the order. According to the dealer, I got the first one through the port.

It's not at all the color combo I had originally planned on ordering. Before I learned that the red/black was going to be available for 2012, it was going to be Arctic White paint and black leather interior with burl walnut trim. Then I heard about the red/black and had to have it. Reason: this is the 97,000th Anniversary of getting the first car I ever truly bought and owned myself (or at least it feels that long ago), That car was a black coupe with an all red (vinyl) interior. So, it's like deja vu all over again, but with less hair.

When I took delivery I was not disappointed and I know you won't be either. MB produces many beautiful, elegant, classy interiors but, to me, this one, combined with the unique exterior look of the car, screams SPORTY!

Now comes the hardest part for you.....the waiting.

I will say this: the hockey stick DRL's I've seen in the daytime seem to be brighter to my eyes than the straight-line DRL's. Not sure.

Wondering if the hockey sticks have more LED's in them? The straights have 4. Or maybe adding the lighted L portion enlarges the overall area of light and makes them seem bigger-brighter?

OK, this oughta start a nice argument!!
