"The 7-speed automatic transmission has been reengineered for smoother, more efficient and more responsive performance. An electronic selector and standard paddle shifters allow full control of gear changes without taking a hand from the 3-spoke steering wheel."

Yes, the 7G Plus transmission and the paddle shifters.
So far, the changes are direct-injection engine, transmisison, paddle shifters and the LED.
Are the interiors the same? Did they improve something in 2012 models?

that 0-60 time can't be right. of course, benz is always conservative on their 0-60 times. C&D said 4.7 on the '10 convertible ... i've done 4.7 in my coupe... with more HP and torque i betcha it's in the 4.5 range and the 1/4 mile in the low 12's. not that it matters. sweet engine.

Zero to 60 mph: 4.2 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 10.2 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 17.6 sec
Street start, 5–60 mph: 4.7 sec
Top gear, 30–50 mph: 2.3 sec
Top gear, 50–70 mph: 2.8 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 12.8 sec @ 112 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 134 mph
July 2011"
What's the weight of a CLS compared to an E550 coupe (4,100 vs. 3,800)?

4.2 seconds .. brilliant. def no need for an AMG version of this thing. thanks for the info. i wonder what the gas mileage will be. i have achieved roughly 18mpg on mine over 37,000 miles, so i'm guessing this new engine will be ~18 city / 28 hwy

I passed by a MB dealership here in Toronto this morning.
There was a beautiful black on black 2012 E350 Coupe on display. Unfortunately, like the other thread here, the DRL LED was in the shape of hockey-stick. I prefer the newer linear style, looks a lot more integrated.

Geez - I hope that doesn't happen with me - Mine's supposed to be delivered in early December and would crap if that's what came with it... No offense to anyone, but that is why, or one of the reasons why I passed on a 2011...

In my opinion, the biggest decision point of 2011 versus 2012 is the engine and the 7G Plus transmisison.
The new engine is supposed to yield more power and lower fuel consumption.

Yes, those were the other things...and the aesthetics... it's weird because they will release a new car and then shortly thereafter, you start hearing rumors of the next release...
