Why no E63 amg coupe?
Does anybody know why mercedes never came up with an e63 amg coupe? They were able to make an amg c class coupe which I think shares the same platform as the e coupe, so it shouldn't be too difficult to make an e amg coupe.

Quoting threeMBs from another thread:
"3. with just release(d) C63 coupe (in the US) and upcoming C63BS, it is almost a guarantee that we'll never see E63 coupe."

Yes, E63 BS coupe would be a stunning car just from the visual perspective alone.
Unfortunately, since they're starting from C63 coupe "base" (which visually is nowhere close to E550 coupe, IMO), the C63 BS will not be as exciting visually (again IMO) as CLK63 "based" previous BS car was. Yes the car will be wide with huge fenders, but will lack the flowing roofline of E coupe with its pilarless look.

Which is why, of the more than 3 dozen photos I took of mine upon delivery, I chose this one for my sig. pix. IMO, it's the single most unique feature of the car's appearance. Sets it apart from all others.
The new D.I. V6 and updated trans. are all I'll ever need and I enjoy every second behind the wheel, but it suuuuuure would be fun to drive the same car as an AMG just one time!

Here is an earlier UK article mentioned the possible reason that Mercedes has no 'foreseeable' plan to producing the E63 AMG Coupe.

Regards,
... The reason, according to a company insider, is company management decided an E63 Coupe would be too close in price and features to the CLS63 “four-door-coupe.” As a result, plans for the car were scrapped. That means there will be no direct BMW M3 rival from Mercedes for the foreseeable future.
“We had a good look where it would fit into the line-up and eventually came to the conclusion it would be too close to the CLS63 AMG, both in positioning and price,” a source told the U.K.’s Autocar.

I do not know when that article was published, but MB has a direct rival to BMW M3 now - it's just introduced C63 coupe.
E63 coupe, had it been built, would never be an M3 rival as it would have been much more upscale (just like CLK63 was if not more). In BMW line up the rival to E63 coupe would be M6.
In addition, while there's a $10K difference between E and corresponding platform CLS, the difference in AMG form almost does not exist.
CLS63 is a lot closer to E63 sedan in both size and price than to E63 coupe (had it been built). So I would take most of that quote's content with a grain of salt.
