E-Coupe - D1S bulbs removal

Can someone please tell me how to remove the D1S bulbs? Should I turn the bulb clockwise or counter clockwise in order to take it out?

As I know, the W204 model, they have 2 metal clips that secure the D1S bulbs. However, I found there are no metal clips inside the headlights.

Can someone please confirm or advise how to do this?

Thanks.

Driver's side wheel removal and inner plastic fender to access the back of the headlamp. The manual states that the diver side is not user servicable - that's why.

I am not referring the driver's side bulb. I just want to know how to take off the bulb. It does not matter either driver or passenger side.

Beside, I am confident to take off the driver's side without going to the dealership.

I just removed the plastic cover, reach in and turned counter clockwise and the bulb should come out. U can detach the cable before or after u do this.

So, there is no metal clips to secure the square base of the D1S, right?

No clips like the C class, I know what u mean cause i use to have one. After you removed the bulb, there is a plastic ring that you remove from the d1s bulb. U reuse that plastic ring with the new bulb you replacing which i assuming u upgrading to 6000k,8000k. That ring is what holds the bulb in the housing socket.

Thank you for your accurate and detailed reply. I totally understood what you meant.

BTW, do you have any problem accessing the driver's side? I beleive the access door from the inner fender is pointing straight to the low beam plastic cap. Dio you need any special technique?

I found it is impossible to change the driver's side on top because there is a metal piece that block your hand going in or twisting.

Sorry to bring the old thread up, is it a plastic "flat" ring or a plastic "cap" that attached to the D1S bulb?

Is the headlamp housing secured / locked to the D1S bulb flange (not the plastic ring)? What is this plastic ring for? To increase the thickness of the D1S flange to enable to lock against the housing?
