Offset Question

Hi,

I have been told that E class coupe and C class W204 share the same offset size. Can anyone please confirm that? If not, can I add any spacer to get the flush look.?? The rim size is 20" with 245/30/20 on 8.5 front and 285/25/20 on 10.5 rear.

Thank you.

While E coupe does have relatively high offsets, C class (except C63) has even higher offsets.

For the wheels and tires sizes you provided, to get flush firment on an E coupe offsets should be around et35 front and around et50 for rear. But 245/30-20 tire on 8.5" wide et35 wheel and 285/25-20 tire on 10.5" wide et50 wheel will stick out way passed fenders on any non-AMG C-class. As a matter of fact, I'm 100% possitive those tires will rub on C, while they will fit E coupe just fine.

Actually., those rims and tires used to be on my C350... And as far as I know, the AMG and non AMG W 204s share the same offset... I rolled my fenders and after that there was no rubbing except I went on huge dips with full load... I'm selling my car in a few days and my friend wants to buy the rims but he is in another state so we can't test fit the rims... So, do u think a 5mm spacer would do fine for the flush look on E coupe..?? I really appreciate your help. Thank you...

In order to answer your question, the wheels' offsets are needed to be known. If you'll let me know what they are, I'll be able to tell you what's needed for a flush look on E coupe.

Yes they would (front: flush, rear: flush and then some).

Also FYI: 5mm spacers can not be used on an E coupe. Since hub's lip is only 7-8mm, the 2-3mm left (after installing 5mm spacer) is not enough to properly seat a wheel on (in other words wheel's weight would be supported by bolts instead of the hub's lip).
I'm even more surprised than before that these wheels (with such relatively low for C class offsets, as specified) mounted with those wide tires would fit a C class regardless of what was done to fenders. But I'm not expert on C fitments and more to the topic - wheels will fit flush on E coupe.

Thank you for your help. It was a great knowledge about the E coupe. On my C class, I rolled the fenders since it was rubbing with those wide tires at first and I didn't want to switch them again. It will do fine without rubbing if you go 235/35/20 fr and 275/30/20 rear. Me and the one other member on the C forum were the only ones who went with 245s and 285s with no big issue (except for rolling/trimming the fenders) as far as I know. I checked the AMG W204 forum and yes the C and C AMG share the same offsets.

Again, thank you so much.

Yes they will fit. Front maybe just a bit too aggressive by a couple of mms, but still will be fine.

I have 2013 e550 and seller sent me 45 offset for front 8.5x20. Can I use spacer since I can't return front rims?

yes, you can anywhere from 3-10mm. I'm presuming you're lowering the car...

Not lowering but just want it to fit with the 45mm offset they sold me. I picked up a set of 5mm spacers and will take your advice on the tire size you're currently running on your 2014. Thanks for the advice mo11.

I would not use a 5mm spacer. The hub's lip is only 7-8mm so using a 5mm spacer will not allow enough lip to properly seat the wheel.

I have successfully used a 10mm spacer by H&R with longer bolts and did not experience any issues.

funny how you wouldnt suggest using 5mm coz the hub lip is 7-8mm. then follow it up but saying you used 10mm.

The H&R 10mm spacers have the proper sized lip built in so they are safe. Perhaps you need to do some research. 5mm spacers, even the hub centric ones, do not have a lip....see three MB's earlier post.
