Low Fuel Gauge Question

Low Fuel Gauge Question
I recently purchased a 2012 E550 coupe. I've always owned BMWs so this is my first Merc and needless to say, I'm still getting use to the display.
When the red low fuel warning is displayed on the speedometer screen, is there anyway to display the remaining mileage/range left before you run dry? I know you can do this when the yellow warning initially lights up by toggling over to the consumption screen, but when it gets lower, it just give you a picture of your car and a refueling pump, which in my opinion is annoying.
Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks

This is not uncommon in most cars. When you get that low it is impossible for the sending unit in the tank to give a correct reading since the fuel sloshing around in the tank makes an accurate reading of the fuel left about impossible.
Unless you are a thrill seeker it's time to hit the gas station.

No comments on my Seinfeld video? I thought it was pretty funny! Anyways, I got the red low fuel warning light this past weekend. I drove another 20 miles (highway driving) before filling up the tank. I put in 15.7 gallons. I'm assuming I still had 1.7 gallons left, since the manual states the tank capacity is 17.4 gallons.

On my Audi A6, the distance to empty would get down to 5 miles before giving up on updates. I'd regularly drive down to that level and when 0 miles showed I'd head for the pumps. Seems like MBZ doesn't want us to cut it that close
