2012 550 Cab warped rotors

Someone gave me the nice gift of a bad door ding last week. While I had the car at the dealership, I mentioned that the steering wheel was vibrating when I applied the brakes lightly at freeway speeds. I noticed a few other posters speaking of warped rotors lately, so I had them check it out for me. Got a call from my SA indicating that they were replacing both pads and rotors under warrantee, and that they were indeed slightly warped. I do not use the brakes hard, and I try to keep them cool. He did not indicate that he had seen much of this, but I did mention that I had read that some of us were indeed experiencing it. Warrantee is 12 months on pads and rotors I understand, FYI.

Interesting: we haven't had any problems.

I owned this car for 3 weeks.. I do have the vibration when braking.. specially when you applied more pressure to the pedal.

at first it feels like ABS system working.. but its very noticeable specally at freeway speeds and slowing down to exit..

I have 18k miles.. so I'll be calling the dealer today..

LMAO get used to it brother. My car is 13 months old and the rotars have warped 3 times. I've just left them now, plan to get rid of the car. Not dealing with this crap.

dealer wont' replace brakes after 12k miles or 12 months.. so I'm stuck getting aftermarket parts..

I will try the rotors available on parts.com or amazon.. they are $100 a piece and pads are pretty cheap compared to my E55

My mechanic usually charges me 1 hour labor.. $89 to install.

I'll report back if the problem returns once I swap rotors and pads.

They cost more, but I'd go with a better product similar to EvoSport's multi-piece front rotors. BUT: rumors abound about EvoSport &
make sure that EvoSport is viable before proceeding. I've never purchased from them.

Have you tried having your rotors reground? I have had warpage problems in the past where once the rotors were turned they were fine. Seems sometimes after brakes have gone through heat/cool cycles a few times stresses are relieved and the brakes hold shape better.

you can turn the rear rotors but not the fronts.. since they are cross drilled.

aftermarket/generic parts are fine with me.. used them on my E55 all the time.
