2012 E550 Cab
Differences '13 to '11 E550 Cab
I am looking at picking up a E550 Cab, have a couple of prospects a 2011 Capri/wGrey 6k miles and 2013 Polar White/wred/black new. What are the differences in the 2011 model to the 2013? Any opinions on one over the other? Of course there is about $15k difference in price. Thanks for the input!

The big difference is the engine. The 13 model has a new generation biturbo 4.6L V8 with 443lbs of torque and 402hp. The 11 E has naturally aspirated 5.5L V8 with 385. There is a big difference in the power on the 13 model plus better fuel economy.
Either way you will love both cars, but If it were my money, I would lay out the extra 15K for the 2013.

Also, the '13 has straight drl led lights opposed to hockey sticks on the '11. The steering wheel was upgraded to a smaller and sportier looking one on the '12/'13. Instrument display was upgraded to color opposed to black and white. 18 inch 5 spoke AMG wheels are standard on the '13.

'13 E550 Cabriolet
With the new engine, I would say go with the newer one between those two. HOWEVER..... since a facelift has been announced, I would consider holding off a bit and going with a '14 instead. Pricing should be about the same as a '13, unless the dealer or MB is giving big discounts. It might even be a good time to order a '14 and get it how you want it and not what MBUSA and the dealer think you want.

I was cross shopping a new 2012 and a 2010 with 14k miles and there was a 30k price difference. I'd probably have gone for the new one if it was only a 15k difference, but whatever you choose I'm sure you'll be more than happy.
