Why is everything for this car so expensive?
BMW 335i:
Dual cone intake: $95
upgraded intercooler: $695
downpipes: $395
catback exhaust: $699
Extremely potent tune: $379
Mercedes E550:
Dual cone intake: $250
Upgraded intercooler: $1300
downpipes: $900
Catback exhaust: least I've seen anywhere is $1,500
Tune: $900-$10,000
So why is crap so much more expensive on this car? Let's be real, a piece of pipe for the exhaust costs the same amount whether its going on an E550 or a 335i.

It's priced depending on the demographic buying it. The median income for someone buying an E550 is probably $300,000 per year, the 335 is $150,000.

the demographic plus you have to consider the 335i i6 TT lump has been around since 2006 so lots of different companies that would offer parts and tune ups drives the price down. E550 V8 BT is a lot "newer" to tune ups/companies to work on and offer parts for it so they can dictate the price they want. But know exactly what you mean about the prices for pipework varying from one model to the next is ridiculous but there are people out there willing to pay.

has anybody talked to JB tuning about having a PIP device for our cars, similar to the N54/55 cars.. JB+/JB4 products.
He is so cal, so I would have no issue being a Beta tester.

I agree with folks here - aftermarket parts availability and pricing are a function of volume and competition. There are a LOT more BMW 3's out there being tuned, so you have many options competing with each other. Want sway bars? You can choose between 5+ competing brands. Want to program the engine? There's JB4, Cobb, Dinan, etc.
Probably not what you want to hear, but if you want cheaper parts, buy a higher volume car.
