The headlights give me a headache. I strongly dislike the new design. Otherwise, beautiful car.

Other than the new technology, I don't regret my 2013 E350 Cab purchase. Don't like the front end of the 2014 at all. Plus, there is no way I would have received the big discount that I did on a 2014.

E coupe
i like it alot, it looks sportier and more modern. i like the fact that they took out the LED(which is cheap and played out IMO). Almost have brand uses LED now from KIA to Ford. The new headlight is definitely a plus!

Wouldn't trade my 2012 for the new one! Front looks ricy, like a Honda!

Have to admit, I like the new rear end on the 2014 ..but the front with overly expressed intake vents and consolidated lights are just "yuck".

My brother had some issues with his newly purchased 2013 e350 sedan, so strangely enough the dealer gave him a 2014 model. Good deal for him as he got the 2013 at 22% off msrp, so he told me he is trying to get used to the new front end..

The 2014 E coupes arrived in bay area already, alot of dealers already have them in their inventory. Surprised no one bought one yet? I got a quote from them but the price is ridiculous..

I wouldn't have one

I too Very much dislike the new front end and the column shifter.

The outward appearance is cheap - and the shifter is too much like old American cars from the 70s/80s.

When it comes time to replace the CLK, I'll be looking for a Red over Cream 2012/2013 E350 Cabrio.

2014 E550 Coupe
When I first saw the car in photos i told myself I was going to get a 2013 E500 coupe. Once more details started coming out along with different photos my opinion changed. I ordered one for euro delivery early next year. When a dealer got one in and I saw if in person, I loved it even more. The optional lighting package really makes the car. The standard lights on the 2014 just don't do it. I actually like the functionality of the gear selector on the column. I wasn' sold on that either until I tried it. The extra room on the console makes the case for the move.

2013 E350 Coupe
I test drove both the 2013 & 2014 E350 coupes before deciding on the 2013. The front and rear end styling was not a deciding factor for me; but the steering wheel column mounter shifter was a big issue. Shifters on the "tree" are for minivans and station wagons. The extra storage space in the console was nice but not worth the trade off, at least imho...

2017 GLE350 4Matic
First post here...I just recently purchased a 2014 E350 Cabriolet. I had the opportunity to choose between a 2013 and a 2014. Initially, I wanted the 2013 but the changes made to the new model eventually won me over.

The rear end definitely looks better and I personally like the 2014 front end the best. But I can see the back and forth on here. Even the salespeople at the dealership argued back and forth over the new front end.

Congrats!

My wife just replaced her 2012 E350 Coupe with a 2014 E550 Coupe.

Frankly, I like them both -- The 2012 looks elegant and timeless, while the 2014 looks sporty and aggressive.

The 2014 LED headlight is a piece of art and engineering, one needs to see it in action to appreciate it. Throughout the car, there are countless little things that have been improved since the 2012, vey subtle but refreshing (e.g. touch and feel of the buttons, software features and updates, new safety features, 360-degrees surround camera, etc.)

On the other hand, I still prefer the 2012 good old hydraulic steering feel. The 2014 has electromechanical steering -- very accurate, but feels not as direct (feels like it takes a millisecond or two for the electric motor to spin up.)

I cannot compare the performance and handling of the two, because ours are apple (3.5L V6) and orange (4.7L bi-turbo V8.)

Thanks.

I like the C207/A207 with its timeless Mercedes 'pontoon fenders' coupe/convertible styling.

Our C207s turn heads every time we lower all four windows (the beauty of pillar-less coupe.) And then whenever I see a A207 (with top down) passing by, I would turn my head to admire.

Thank you.

Here are couple photos of the rear comparison.

Again, I am happy of both looks. The 2012 looks classy and luxury, and the 2014 looks bold and 'bling'.

The 2014 taillight came with a tinted look, which makes a sporty contrast with the red LED strips. Many drivers on the road tried to catch up checking out what kind of car it is, and then to go around checking out what model of Mercedes it is. I guess not too many 2014 C207/A207 are on the roads yet.

We do miss the Olivine Grey color on our 2012. It was the E-Coupe launch color, and no pictures can do justice how beautiful this color is in person. It looks medium-grey at night, olive-brown at sunrise/sunset, and champagne-green in daytime. We have received countless compliments through the years.

The 2014 rear is absolutely stunning. We faced a similar decision last March and went with the 2013 in Diamond White as the front fascia didn't do it for us.

But with the frontal pictures in the color you have above, one cannot go wrong with either beauties. My brother has a 4 door 2014 and it looks great.

We haven't had many of the 2014 coupes in the Bay Area that's for sure. Congrats again on a Gem from Oakland.

Drives Slowly
I agreed to let Mercedes NA take my 2013 ClS63 for a few weeks to help with their emissions testing. In return, they gave me a brand new 2014 E550 coupe to tool around in during my car's absence.

To say the least, I am blown away by this new coupe. If there was an AMG version, my car would be gone tomorrow. The suspension is fantastic, the engine is immediate, and the seats feel more supportive than my AMG. If I didn't know the cost of either of these cars and drove them back to back, I would be hard pressed to tell you which one was more expensive.

Congrats to anyone that picks up this car.......a beautiful design.

Thanks folks,

One last picture comparison, for the interior.

At a glance, there are just little cosmetic differences between the 2012 and 2014, yet most changes are behind the dash and software. Some changes I like, some not so much. However, nothing is a deal killer, we can totally live with either car as a daily drive.

On 2014:

- Now the COMMAND GPS accepts full-address voice input, I can say the whole address '123 Main Street, San Francisco'; instead of saying city, street, house number separately.

- Finally, the clock automatically adjusts itself to Day Night Saving Time! When I started the car in that morning, the clock just moved forward one hour by itself.

- The small LCD display inside the speedometer now displays more detailed GPS information; for example, the lane information. Subtle but useful, as I don't need to often move my eyes to glance the big LCD screen.

- The small LCD display inside the speedometer now also displays the exact gear that the car is in. For example, 'D6' instead of just 'D'.

- Now there are two user-programmable Favorite buttons next to the COMMAND knob. I programed one to immediately call-up the 360-degrees surround camera -- very helpful during parking, so I won't scrap the front spoiler or wheels to the curb.

- The turn signal lever has been moved closer to the 'more natural' 9 O'clock position next to the steering wheel. On 2012 the lever was offset a little, and I sometimes mistakenly activated the cruise control instead.

- Other subtle improvements, like the GPS graphic is more refined, the buttons feel nicer to touch, the seatbelt tugs more gently, etc., etc. I have yet to discover all the small-yet-new updates and features, will report later accordingly.

On 2012:

- The wood shift knob in the center console is such a beautiful thing to look and touch. The 2014 replaced it with a column-mounted stalk called Direct Select Lever. Nothing to comment on the look of this lever, but it does simply work (up for D, down for R, in for P), and we get used to it quickly.

- I prefer the 2012 cup holders next to the armrest, instead in the 2014 they are right in front of the climate control buttons -- whenever I put a drink in the cup holder, it immediately blocks the access to the buttons.

- The 2012 does not have the ECO button. The 2014 by-default will go into the ECO Start/Stop mode when the car starts. Luckily, the ECO can be easily turned-off by a button in the center console.

Regards,

2014

I have to agree that both designs really look good as we have a '13 and '14 sitting right next to each other in the garage. The '13 looks more timeless and classic but the '14 looks modern and more sporty/aggressive. And to be frank, the rear on the '13 seems boring now. I have been getting a ton of looks driving the '14 around lately, particularly when the top is down.

Also, the Iridium Silver paint job is GORGEOUS in person and in sunlight. I was a bit unsure when I ordered the car but its a fantastic color that really hides the dust and dirt very well - Probably the best color I have owned for hiding dust and dirt.

2009 CLK350 Convertible
2014 Loaner

Took the CLK into the dealer for annual maintenance and COMAND checkup (a whole other issue...)

They loaned me a white metallic 2014 E350 Convertible which I got to keep overnight.

Although the new car is @ 40hp more powerful than mine - it didn't feel it.
It did feel larger, heavier and chunkier - and the brakes felt wooden (admittedly, not a Sports Appearance package like my CLK.)

The COMAND is most definitely an upgrade.

The ECO only bothered me when it would shut the car off while putting the car in reverse to park: Uber-annoying. Other than that, it was no big deal - and I learned to softly brake to keep the motor running. B

The gear selector annoyed me to no end - hated fumbling with the lever & button when the console mounted selector is so intuitive.

Also couldn't stand the Lane/Blindspot warnings: Change lanes, and the car blinks at you. Pass a bus, and the car blinks at you. Pull up to a stoplight, and the car blinks at you. Pass a telephone pole set near the curb, and the car blinks at you. UGH!

I did enjoy the cameras mounted all over the car - and loved the parking sensors. I think I'd like to see about parking retrofitting sensors to my car...

Was it nice to try out the new model? Yes.
Do I like it more than my CLK? No. I was actually pleased to get into my old car - it feels lighter, smaller, more responsive, and easier to drive. The CLK even gets more looks on the street (perhaps due to being Mars Red as opposed to Anonymous White).

Now if I could just get the MBrace/COMAND to work properly...
