for the headlights, it is possible to use the old sam and code it to work with new lights without needing the converter that is being sold? not wanting to use aftermarket parts to make this conversion.

You definitely need the converter to make the adaptive function of the headlights work. By purchasing the converter you also get the coding done for free which is great considering you can really mess up your car if someone with little knowledge with coding messes with it. However, if you choose to not have the adaptive function I am assuming you don't need it but good luck finding someone to code it because the MB dealership is clueless when it comes to it and not many people have been involved in the facelift hence a lack of knowledge in the community.

I see.
so if i get facelift sam and code it, it should work 100% without converter, correct?
Wait here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Installing a NEW SAM will be alot of work. Not ONLY coding. Alot of rewiring is needed and a new canbus disrtubutor and so on to make it 100% corect. Also the new windshiled with Stereo front camera is needed for ILS to work 100%.

Hi, my dear friend, I'm going to complete a retrofit, for xenon for new lights, but it's very difficult to part with the reprogramming because I can not open the right person to do this SCN coding! Know someone, who can help me for SCN; Please? ... I already managed to change the codes in the neighbor Mercedes, I changed the code xenon, to new lights Led! ..
Does anyone have the parts for a conversion kit? I wrecked the front end of my benz and want to replace with 2014+ parts including the windshield with camera. Please message me thanks!
Far from just codings...Alot of other unknown problems no one speaks about like all the repinning that needs to be done to conectors on SAM. Since many cables run to different spots under it. Like the canbus and lin bus for speedo as just one example. Almost No one knows this since it dont show at first. But if you dont do it Star diagnose wont even see the speedo after the change.
