Replacing Rotors - Leased Car

As you all know, my rotors have warped 3 times in the last year. I need to replace them, but refuse to pay Mercedes $1,200 so they can replace them with the same sub-par crap they fit standard, and have to go through another 3 sets before lease turn in.

Can I replace the rotors with after market ones, and turn them in with the lease? Or do i have to use OEM?

I think that if they have specs at least as good as stock then you probably would be okay. They usually just wholesale the car anyway, so it's gone within a couple of days.

See Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Essentially, you can't be penalized for not using OEM parts unless they can prove definitively that the non-OEM part caused a failure. Since you are responsible for maintenance of your car, and they can't require you to use OEM parts for said maintenance (unless provided free-of-charge), you should be fine.

I hope I don't go through 3 sets of rotors in the next 18 months.. or else I will have to jump the E63 5.5TT must sooner.

My new StopTech rotors and pads came in yesterday. I'm just hoping this is a permanent fix to the issue.

Can you post a link to where you bought them? The 2012 rotors are bigger than 2010-2011 (they are 360mm) and I can't find any stoptech rotors for the 2012?

Tire Rack lists a Centric model (128.35118 - for 4Matic and Conv only) and a StopTech model (128.35120 - for Coupe only) on their website. However, when I called, they said there was a mistake on the site. So, I went to Centric's website (maker of StopTech) and found the part numbers here: http://www.centricparts.com/

They have two specifications for the E550: 344x32mm (part 128.35120) and 360x36mm (part 128.35118). I didn't realize there were different sizes when I ordered; I just looked at the item listed for the coupe and ended up ordering part # 128.35120. The 360mm was spec'd for the convertible. Guess I'll find out if that's the wrong one when I pull the factory rotor off.

Anyway, a search by part number showed the rotors to be StopTech-branded, and Autoplicity.com had the rotors in stock and at the best price.

****EDIT****

Just looked again and they were shipped from the manufacturer. Not that it really matters.

Also posted in the other brake discussion here: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-c...ml#post5694661. RacingBrake's site listed them as 340x32mm.

This is getting annoying

Since you made me completely paranoid that I ordered the wrong rotors, I called Autoplicity. They verified that the rotors I purchased are the right ones for my car.

I'll still be nervous until I pull one and compare.

Might want to check formymercedes.com. Believe they're a sponsor.

Anyway I purchased Cryogenic Rotors through them for my old 2005 CLK500 and put Akebono brake pads on all 4's. Car stopped much better than originals and significantly less dust. Will very likely buy these for my current ride when the time comes for new rotors and pads.
