Kirkster. I am talking about the main console. I read your post and thouht we might be on to something when you said you saw them. I was told by the local dealer here that the photo in the E coupe brochure was a non USA build. I noticed the steering wheel on he left side. So I guess there is none coming here to the states. Thanks
do you still have you new car price window sticker? I was browsing on cars.com the other day and a dealer posted a pic of the price sticker for a 2014 E550 coupe. guess what was listed as a standard feature? Ambient lighting.

Well I got my E550 coupe back last week from my European Delivery adventure and sadly report no ambient lighting. There's quite a light show on the outside of the car, but nothing inside. Major typo for MB USA...
The US cup holders are exposed, while other regions (EU?) cup holders are covered. See attached images.
As it happens, I own such a “European” convertible and I can tell you, there are no cup holders underneath that shiny bristled aluminium look paneling. What I can tell you in regard to the ambient lighting, is that there are two lights underneath the rear view mirror. In the dark, one of those two lights will keep on burning on a fraction of its full power, thus enlightening the bristled alu paneling underneath (where the gear shifter used to be) for a subtle warm glow. I think this is what was ment with the “ambient lighting” in the E class A207/C207 and their facelifts (such as my own).
Reflected light or “ambient light” if you will on a A207 center console 2016 facelift model. The light underneath rearview mirror. Source of reflected light on the center console. Light on the door handles (very faint in my humble opinion).

Its been so long, not quite remember.
he ended up asking for bunch of other upgrades and retrofit. All in all, i believe it cost him around $4k.
Below is list of things I did:
- Rear bumper retrofit from prefacelift to facelift
- Rear taillights retrofit from PFL to FL
-Side skirt swapped to AMG package version
- Front illuminated star badge
- Aftermarket parking sensor install
- Multimedia display 12.5" android screen upgrade
- Front console, seat back and center console wrap with red leather to match his factory seats.
- BBK retrofit with CLS 550 4 piston front calipers and 360mm CLK rotors
- Doors, front dash, A pillars and headliner wrap with black alcantara
- Steering wheel swap to newer gen.
- Ambient lights installed on doors and front dash.
and probably couple minor things i cant remember...
