The option is not available thru MBUSA, but I heard it is offered in other markets (Australia for example). I have not seen a thread on retrofitting to an E coupe.

Is this what you guys are talking about? If it is, it's not available in the coupe, at least not in the US model. Even though the manual said it's there with 3 different color options, I couldn't find it in my '14 coupe when scrolling through the menu on the dashboard. Not an available option when configuring either, damn MBUSA Looks lovely on the Sedan...

It even says so in the E-class coupe brochure for the US. That's kind of a major typo.

i thught maybe I was crazy, so i went back and looked and here it is;
Forward in every direction.
Look into an E‑Class Coupe or Cabriolet — or out o f one — and you’ll
see the uniquely rewarding result of thinking ahea d. Its redesigned
cabin presents luxuries that might seem unimaginab ly advanced, yet
they feel familiar — and even essential — in no ti me. The Coupe’s four
power windows and Panorama roof make it seem like you can touch
the horizon. The Cabriolet’s wind‑taming innovatio ns let you gently
touch the sky. And by day or night, hand‑finished wood trim and new
multicolor ambient lighting reward you with their luminance. With
every drive, you’ll find a harmony of tradition an d technology. Repose
and responsiveness. And an outlook you’ll always l ook forward to.

You're right, pg.8 of the brochure said "And by day or night, hand-finished wood trim and new multicolor ambient lighting reward you with their luminance." But if you go to MBUSA and looks under 'Comfort & Convenience' for the Sedan, 'multicolor ambient lighting' is listed as a standard feature. It's not there for the Coupe.
I'm sure it's not in my car, I've checked a few times because the owner manual said it's there. Unlike the power-folding mirror where there's a disclaimer saying it's for Canadian model only, the ambient lighting section has no disclaimer. I'll call my salesman to see, cause that'll be pretty mess up if they somehow missed on my car...

What was the production date of your car? There were a number of items that were unavaiable on the E coupe on the first couple of runs.
On a side note, I just got word my coupl is being built next month. Things must be slow in Germany because I'm not scheduled to pick my car up until late March '14.

i'm just not letting this go. There is a difference in wordling between the coupe and sedan as it refers to ambient lighting. The sedan has fiber optic interior lighting and the coupe does not. I suspect the coupe just has the footwells lit up and maybe some other interior lights.

Here is the reply I got back from MB USA
Thank you for your email to Mercedes-Benz USA.
The 2014 E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet vehicles are equipped with ambient lighting as a standard feature. This is an enhancement which doesn't have a setting that can be changed in the instrument cluster.
We appreciate the opportunity to respond.
Sincerely,
Nadia M.

I just ordered a 2014 E coupe. coming out of a 2011 E sedan. first thing I noticed no ambient lighting available. also the E coupe brochure showes pictures of the center console with two doors covering the ash tray and the cup holders. This is not accurate either. the cup holders are exposed all the time. Very disappointed in that looks cheep. They never even noticed at the dealer and have no answer for the reason. Also only available with smoke gray wheels with the sport package.

I looked at an E coupe at the dealer and the cup holders were covered.

Sears Imports in Minnetonka, MN. I have looked at a couple of them and they both had folding doors covering the center console cupholders. I don't think its an option. i'm still trying to figure out the ambient light thing. When I get to germany to pick up my car I'm going to ask about it.

Kirkster thank you for looking. I contacted that dealer today. The sales lady I got told me she had two Coupes on the lot. she went out and looked. She was not awhere of this issue. She went out and looked and told me both had exposed cup holders. so I was unable to get any info or code on this. Thanks Impy

Hey...i actually misspoke on this. The USA ones do have the cup holders exposed. i was thinking you meant the main console. I went on cars.com and looked at the interior photos for the 2014 coupes and the all have the cup holders exposed. Sorry for the misinformation.
Personally, i would rather have them exposed anyway. I'm always using mine.
