Question RE: Oil Change 2012 E350
Hi Guys...I have 35000 KM on my 2012 e350 Coupe and are due for a Service B...i just inquired regarding the cost and its about to run $700+ CDN for a whole bunch of 'checking'...I know a good mechanic and would like for him to do an oil change and do all the checks....Is the oil change pretty straight forward or is it complicated? Is there anything I should know about moving forward?

Its pretty straight forward. Theres a diy written up somewhere on the site.
What I do is buy filter from dealer and go buy mobil 1 oil at auto stores and I would take it to my friend shop to do it for $20 buck fee. If you find a reputable place that does oil change they can do it for you if you provide the material. The only thing they probably wont know is resetting the message..which is easy (look for it on the forum)..overall I spend a total under $100 for labor and parts.

Thanks for the quick response...I was reading some posts and it said something about removing the oil from the top--Is that necessary? As far as costs thus far, Ive bought 8L of oil at $10/L, an oil filter, an air filter and a cabin filter from MB for about $200...I also read thats its vital that we put the right amount of OIL in...is 8L the correct amount? I saw one site saying that I needed 8.44L....

Many manufactures pump the old oil out through the dip stick, lots of the new cars are coming with engine oil pans that do not have sump drain plugs. Personally I do not like this method of draining through the dip stick (even though I have done it myself as I have a pump) because you never drain ALL of the old oil......
Through the sump you get a good flow which drains all of any junk that may exist.......

The only thing I buy from dealer is oil filter, cabin and air filter I buy at AutoZone here in the US for much LESS. At my local walmart they sell mobil 1 0-40 oil in jug of 5qt for only $24. Two of those adds up to 10qt, more than enough for our car.
Like Theraven333 said, most people who did the DIY gets the mityvac to suck oil from the top, its not necessary but you still can drain from the bottom.
