I am not 100% sure about the warranty, but the removal of resonators really does nothing to the car, just more noise. The resonators just make the exhaust sound muted. The warranty probably doesn't cover anything that would have to do with my exhaust since it has been modified.

Update on my car

Finally got the L-shaped LED replaced with the straight bar ones. The new ones are much brighter, and look awesome.

Also received my Escort Passport MAX I ordered.

Do you have any issues with the ride in 'Sport' after lowering your car ? My local mechanic said the adaptive damping might not work as they should in Sport mode if I lower it.

Thanks. I haven't had any issues with the Sport mode, since it still works as it should, which means I can turn it on and off when I need it. The sport button doesn't always stay ON (only when pressed) which would suggest a problem.
Also, I usually drive in the sport mode and do notice when I turn the car is still stiffer as it did before the lowering. So nothing has changed.

Thanks, the tune is honestly my favorite mod I have done to the car. Some will say it is not worth it to mod the E550 non bi-turbo since you don't get much of an increase, but I think it was definitely worth it. The tune roughly increased engine performance from 382 hp to 414 hp. OE tuning did my ecu tune and they are a great company to deal with.

Yea that seems to be the consensus but 30hp is nothing to scoff at. I'll end up ordering the tune later this month when I upgrade my brakes. With the tune you should run a 0-60 under 5 seconds. Glad to hear you like it though!

I would recommend changing your air filters to K&N. Also recommend removing both sets of resonators and replace with them with an x pipe to straight pipe to the mufflers. Not sure what tuning company you will go with, but OE tuning will actually tune your vehicle with these modifications for an increase of horsepower from the tune. So basically your tune would get more HP, plus the HP gain from those two mods (which are small, but still something)

I just purchased a new 14' E550 Cab and had a few questions regarding mods:
1. How much HP is to be gained by putting it in the hands of a reliable tuner?
2. Can the ECO (engine off at every single red light) be tuned out so you don't have to turn it off very time you get in the car?

Congrats on your new purchase! I am sure you will enjoy it. For HP gained you can easily get over 80-100hp with just an ECU tune since you have the Bi-Turbo V8. Some of the companies I would look at are Renntech, Eurocharged, and OE Tuning.

Also, I am not sure about the ECO button since I do not have it on my car.

Messi fan? Me too. It seems that I am picking on you but you are spreading several bits of mis-information around here. If you do ANY engine mods or ECU tuning to your car and something fails and MB determines your mods could have had something to do with the failure, they reserve (and have) the right to void your warranty and not pay for your repairs. Simply call MB customer service and they will tell you that. They advise AGAINST mods and ECU tunes for that reason, Renntech or Billy Bob's Go Fast Lawnmowers. Even MB dealers that have relationship with Renntech are going outside MBusa and would have to cover repairs themselves or lie to MB.

Really because I called and talked to a salesperson for Renntech and they told me it does not void warranty. Also, some MERCEDES dealerships even do Renntech tuning and the warranty remains intact.

Dealers are not MBusa Barca and MBusa are the ones who pay the dealers for warranty claims. The dealers are doing this on their own and you are taking a chance. You may be comfortable with that, but new owners asking the question need to know they are taking a risk at having to pay for their own repairs should something happen.

Ok, then I have been mis informed by someone who works at Renntech, and the Mercedes dealership. I was going to go with a Renntech tune before I found OE tuning so I called all these places up which is why I gave him the information I received, I am not just making it up. I have already deleted the warranty part of what I wrote to RicAtThebeach.

Did OE tune your car with a Renntech tune or their tune?

OE tuned my ECU with their own tune. My car is a 2011 so it is the non-biturbo model, which requires a different tune. The reason I went with OE was because the of the low price and high horse power gains. The Renntech tune cost $1500 and only gave me +20 HP. While OE tuning was $500 and gave me +32hp. Note these Horsepower gains are for the 2011 and under E550 that are naturally aspirated.

Some updates on the car. Blacked out most of the chrome trim with Gloss Black 3M (around the side of the car, the chrome strip in the rear above the license plate, and the door handles). Had the silver part of the grill and side markers wrapped in 3M Gloss black as well. Also changed D1S bulb from Philips Ultra blue to Osram Xenarc 66144 CBI Cool Blue since one of the Philips bulbs already stopped working and I have had them for only two months. Guess I won't be buying bulbs from Ebay any more.

Just got my 2014 E550 back from the local Renntech dealer. Wow! It's a handful now. I think it's faster (in a straight line) than my 06' Z06 Vette was.
