Fog lights to "L" shape DRL conversion ?

For the C207 2010 model,

Is it possible to retrofit the fog lights (round ones) with just the "L" shape DRL lights ?

anyone knows what price range it would be for the complete conversion and if it's easy to do or if its best to ask a professional to do it for you.

thank you !

i just bought the E coupé with round fog lights and i don't really like them, so i was thinking by myself if such a conversion was possible.

A parts list with(out) numbers would be nice aswell if anyone has it.

(i used the search and i stumbled upon this thread but that still left me with the same question)

I want to do this as well. I know you can buy the 2012-2013 e coupe lights and install them on the 2010-2012. I contacted a mercedes dealership and they said it was $300 per light. I would like to know if anyone knows a place to buy these lights for cheaper.

$300 per light :o
that is indeed expensive, did you not ask the dealer if it was possible to retrofit them ?

Well they said they could sell me the parts, but I would have to find someone else to install them since they are made for a different year car.

That's odd, i did not know that there was that much of a difference in all these years in the bumpers.

Also, I can sell you my hockey stick LED lights since I am buying the straight bar ones. They are in perfect condition. Will sell them half off what ever the mercedes dealership charges for them new.

I had asked the same question to one of the guys on this forum who posts quite a bit and seemed like an expert.

This was his response to my PM

"I take it that you haven't got the bi-xenon ILS set up?

Reason why I ask that is that those lamps have cornering lamps built in to the cluster (on the main beam/outer lamps) which double up as the fog lights, allowing the other lamps to be the DRLs

Whilst it is possible to order the straight LED and remove the twin spots and refit with the straight LED I don't believe it is possible to wire up the straight LEDs to act as a fog lamp and cornering lamp as well as a DRL, I imagine doing this will result in error codes and messages on the dash.

So maybe this will not be possible unless you are to change all the front lights to the bi-xenon set up and LED DRL - i know that may seem like a silly answer but it is all I can think given my understanding of the lighting set ups on these cars"

However, if you do find a way, let me know.

Good Luck

I finally switched from the L-Shaped to the straight bar lights. No modding was necessary, just plug and play. Only thing is removing the old lights and surrounds is a bit difficult, the bumper had to be taken off the car in order to get them off.

Do your straight DRLs dim when the headlights are on?

im pretty sure all the led DRL lights dim when headlights on. but i read on here another member took his car into the dealer and they flashed his lighting program to a updated one. Or maybe they changed the settings? and they are full bright all the time.

That's what mine do... full bright all the time. I wish I knew the trick to get them to dim. I'm using the updated front SAM on a 2011 E350 Cabo

Sure. The total for the parts was $608 (lights plus surrounds) and $80 dollars installed. Also I bought the lights brand new and it would be cheaper to buy ones from Ebay. Also I am in the process of selling the L shaped lights on ebay for $300 both so that helps pay for some of the other lights.

I'm looking into updating my L shape DRLs to the straight bar DRLs.

So I'm just trying to get an idea if anyone would be interested in buying my OEM L shaped DRLs and mesh inserts. An interested buyer would make this decision for me easier. Call it a win-win.

Image of my car attached.

Did you install it yourself? How hard was it to take off the front bumper? I tried to go from under by removing the belly pan but it was too difficult.

PS. My L shaped DRLs will be for sale soon for anyone interested.
