E550 HP

What do you think the actual horsepower of an E550 is? I know it is rated by MB at 405 (at the flywheel) but it feels like more. Consider that German Auto makers have a reputation for underrating hp in their cars.

There are several threads on this forum that have the info: including dyno reports. Here is one that discloses the stock and modified "at the wheel" HP and Torque. Flywheel numbers are more of course.

My stock HP/Tq was only 342.7 / 375 at the wheels when performed by eurocharged Canada on a Dyno Dynamics. I posted the graph in another thread

So is that 402 HP? Assuming 15 percent drivetrain loss.

I was told to use 20% conversion of wheel to break HP/Tq due to that specific dyno machine. But 15% seems to represent stock #'s

Ok so roughly 429 HP then. Thats still quite interesting though since a lot of people say (or are convinced) the Bi-turbo produces more than that amount of horse power.

Yeah, I wanted to dyno and actually see what my car does, and not just take a tuners dyno #'s. I was getting a tune anyway so wanted a before and after to see the gains on paper.

If I take the 15% rule of my wheel dyno #'s it works out to 403/441 for break Hp/Tq. That is pretty much as advertised from Merc, so maybe they used the same brand of dyno machines? Not sure...
