Wanting to put AMG brake into E550 Coupe
Hi all,
I've searched around and information has been pretty scarce about this retrofit.
Many have said it is possible but will need a custom bracket for the brakes. The people that have done it usually don't give any specifics or where to get these brackets. I am interested in sticking a set of AMG brakes into my E550.
I'm eyeing a set of CLS63 callipers + rotors for sale, but I am unsure about fitment. Do you guys know if the CLS63 brakes are the same as the C63?
I also have a C63 without PP and I know there is difference between the two. Apparently the PP brake job cost ..dealer quote $5000 CDN.
Therefore, I want a set of Non- PP AMG brake for the coupe.
Any more information will be appreciated!

I put a set of 2013 C63 coupe (non-pp) brakes on my e550 coupe last year, all I needed was brackets for the front calipers. You can call DCTMS and ask if they will sell you a set, they get them custom built by a local machine shop. They're not cheap, but depending on how much you paid for the C63 calipers/rotors/pads, it may still be cheaper than buying a set of new Brembos.
e550 coupe brakes will fit on a non-amg w204 with no modification, therefore the kit for putting amg brakes on a w204 will work on an e550 coupe.
I think the difference between the C63 PP and non-PP brakes is the PP package has multi-piece rotors that are lighter.
BTW, the e550 stock 18" wheels clear the c63 calipers too

can you elaborate more on the bracket? do you have a picture of what it looks like?

You wouldn't be parting with those C63 brakes would you?
I PM-ed DCTMS yesterday regarding the C63 brakes and if they made any brackets for the C207 but haven't gotten any response yet. The set of CLS63 brakes that I was interested in came off a fully loaded 09 CLS63, so it probably has the Performance package which I do not want.
If cost does get too much and I look into Brembos, do I need a custom bracket for the Brembos as well? or is the custom brackets just necessary when retrofitting with AMG brakes?
I'm glad the 18" 6 spokes will clear the brakes I have those as my winters right now and it would suck to have to get new rims.

I'm not sure if the CLS brakes will work, even with this bracket
That's what I bought from DCT to allow me to put C63 brakes on my C207. Whether the brakes are from a PP car or not, I don't think it matters, I think only the rotors are different.
If you buy a set of Brembos, they will bolt right onto the car and come with any necessary brackets. DCT also sells complete brake kits along with the custom made caliper brackets, may want to ask them about that.
Nah I'm not going to bother taking the brakes off my car, dealer is going to pick it up tomorrow. Some lucky guy is also going to benefit from the os giken lsd as well

It's pretty rare for somebody to mod their E-coupe like this around here.. even though we're living in the same country.. still too far away
Would you mind telling me how much you paid for your parts? The caliper bracket you got from DCT and where you sourced your C63 brakes. Were they used?
You can PM me if you don't want to post the price out in public
BTW, how does it drive with LSD? I don't have an LSD on my C63 but everybody says it is day and night difference so I might end up getting an LSD but will be for my C63 instead

So does anybody know if a set of 2009 CLS63 brakes will work on this car?
Assuming I get the brackets for the C63 brakes? Thinking of picking a set up for the E-coupe if these will fit.

You can not fit E63 AMG amg brakes ( btw they are same as cls63) to E coupe. Because front and rear axles on E coupe are different( only front will fit from E63) however C Amg w204 shares same brakes as e coupe and will clear 18 stock alloys.

Has anyone on this site actually swapped out the stock E550 brakes for the C AMG w204 brakes? If so, what did it cost and how much more noticeable was the stopping power in average to aggressive driving?
By the way, if you've had this done, did you have any indy shop do the work or did you have MB do the swap?

There have been a bit of information on this.
yes, it is possible. You would need the W204 rotors, pads, calipers. You would also need custom made mounting brackets. DCTmotorsports have these brackets I think. I inquired about them a few months ago, and they were priced at $499.
I've been trying to find a set of brakes for under $2000 cdn, but that is near impossible haha

Thanks Patrickkc. Truly amazing that we have to get custom mounting brackets made to do this type of swap huh? One would think that this type of mod would be something fairly common amongst E550 owners and that MB would have an existing conversion kit available. Silly me.
yeah, the mounting bracket is BS, since essentially, this is a C-class chassis it should be a direct bolt on.
Getting the AMG brakes are just way too expensive. Especially with the terrible conversion rate right now, I just can't justify dumping almost 5k into getting the better brakes.

oops, sorry I didn't see I got a reply.
