Guys, I'm new here and I would like to get a suggestion from E-Class experts here. I'm looking to purchase 2011 Mercedes E550 with 45,351 Miles on it and since this is a private purchase and I don't want to end up with a bad vehicle, what would you suggest that I check? or should I ask the seller to take it to the nearest Mercedes dealership? I'm assuming I'll be the one paying for the checkup.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I would be certain to run a car fax and have a certified mb mechanic put the car on a lift and check it over.

Find out where they had the car serviced. The seller should also have all the service records.
If the car was serviced at an MB dealer, the dealer will have a vehicle history.

I actually did check carfax, looks clean but I was in the situation when some reports are not fully reported to carfax. Thank you for the tip!Originally Posted by andrew c coupe

Thank you for the advice! I did email the seller to find out if he has all of the service records but no reply yet. Hopefully the vehicle is not sold.Originally Posted by NCBob

Question: I was curious about the acceleration from zero to 60 mph when googling found the following:
http://www.autoblog.com/buy/2011-Mer...expert-review/ (states 5.1sec)
http://0-60.reviews/mercedes-0-60/ (states 4.6sec)
http://www.zeroto60times.com/vehicle...-60-mph-times/ (states 4.9sec)
Which one is correct or none of them are?
Thank you in advanced!!!

Look, the car does it in 4.8s with 1 foot rollout.
I´ll say 5 flat or 5.1 is more accurate, in fact, 5.1 is the 5-60 number. More real world like.
But what is the big difference between a 10th of a second there or here?
You are going to the dragstrip with a 2011 E550?

There are many minute variables that play into performance numbers (DA, elevation, road surface temp etc). If the numbers were off by a second or more then we could see your point but like $100 Guy said regarding 10ths of seconds, "What is the big difference"?Originally Posted by enizan

No worries man, you can go quicker very easily with an E550, just buy a newer model

but if I decide to get a newer model 550 I might as well go with used 2010-2011 E63 (same price range)Just got a call from a local Mercedes dealership, currently under inspection and price tag will be around $55K to $65K
