Any Problems Endemic to 2012 E350 coupe?

Hello everyone!

I am looking to join the Mercedes Benz community as I am considering the purchase of a 2012 e350 coupe. Various family members and friends of mine own and have owned Mercedes vehicles over the years and it seems all of them have been happy with their cars with very few issues to report.
I want to make sure that I will also have a good experience and I plan on keeping this car for many years and miles. So I am hoping if anyone can help out by informing me of any common problems or expensive failures. I have tried searching this topic and I have come across reports of camshaft solenoid failure and balance shaft wear but to be honest, I am not sure how common such issues are or if they affect 2012 e350 models and newer. I appreciate any answers and buying advice.

Thanks in advance and Happy New Year!

Welcome to the forum. Traded a 2010 E350 coupe about two months ago. Purchased it new and drove it for five years 135K miles with only normal wear items needing replacement. Never had a problem. The car was as tight as the day I bought it when it was traded for an E350 4matic sedan. The only negative comment I would make is that the E coupe is built on a C Class chassis and doesn't have the ride quality of an E sedan. But then again, it is designed as a sporty car. In 2010 they didn't offer the coupe in 4matic but that has changed. Good luck with your choice. See you are a Porsche pusher. I have been a PCA member since 1972 and owned many P cars over the years.

Only problems i have had to bring it in for

* paddle shifter broke, and fixed under warranty
*slow and noisy glass roof, fixed under warranty

Otherwise the car is a great DD, and because of my age i dont have to pay such high premiums for the E63 or E550 but i get a beautiful car and it responds well to modifications. Coilovers, tune, 101 race gas, and bullet style resonator delete.

I am currently looking to trade it in or sell it privately and buy myself an F-type V8R in about 8 months for my birthday, but this car has seen me through the twilight years of my 20s and still is complimented and stared at regularly.

One problem was tow truck drivers refused to tow it, they were scared to touch it. They assumed it was worth 80k or more. So the car looks great for the price, and continues to wow people.

I've owned my '11 for three years. Never a problem. 27,000 miles.
I changed out the rims to 19s and installed a SprintBooster.
Enjoy your new ride.

Our '11 model is the most reliable MB of the 4 we've owned. I think it was '12 when they changed the fuel injection system on the motor, better fuel economy and a bit more power. They did have some problems early on, so the only thing I can think to add is to check the service records (if avail) to ensure it's up to snuff.

I bought my '12 new and so far I've had the following issues:

- Low coolant which was solved by topping off the reservoir
- Panoramic roof squeaks as the body flexes. Dealer fixed by lubing the rails
- Both seat handles chrome is peeling
- Driver side xenon bulb burnt out

After 55,000 miles, it's been pretty bulletproof.
