I was thinking about getting my son an E63 Coupè if it comes out. Does anyone know any information about the possibility of an E63 Coupè?

the only information so far regarding an E63 coupe is Mercedes acknowledgement that it was a mistake to have not created one already ... implicating the possibility is highly likely. I'm waiting for confirmation myself.

 

I'm most likely alone on this front but I really hope they don't. The E coupe, not having an AMG variant, is what made me buy the car in the first place. I used to own an SL500 and the non stop "Why didn't you buy an AMG?" question really made me feel crappy.
Now i can honestly say i didn't buy the AMG because they didn't make one. And that makes me feel good gosh darn it .

Seriously though, I think they didn't make one because the 207 chassis shared a butt ton with the C class and an AMG variant would pretty much be a c63( even though Mercedes will constantly tell you that the E class coupe was definitely a E class and not a C class)...

Sooooo will they? Maybe. Should they? I vote no

Although, the new C63-S coupe is certainly VERY nice. Perhaps that is an option?

 

Is your son newly licensed or older? If I had a brand new E63 as my first car or first three cars I may be dead right now haha.

now with the E63 coupe for your son, i hope you dont mind me asking, how young is he? have you considered the W205 C63S?

 

My son is 23 and I don't like how small the C is but I am hoping for an E63S Coupè. If not I will probably end up getting him an S550 Coupè

 

I don't think there will be an E63 coupe. It's on the same platform as the C-class coupe and it just wouldn't make financial sense to have the exact same car with different set of badges.

 

^ because the same can't be said regarding the current C and E series coupes ...

 

there is a clk55 and a clk63 which is a c class platform as well. so, im still hoping.

although the c coupe amg is coming out and the S coupe's been out there. amg coupe range could use a mid size like the c, e & s sedans do.

 

well ... continuing with this topic ... with the recent introduction of the C43 AMG coupe and convertible at Geneva, and the recent release that New York will unveil a new AMG E43 Sedan at their upcoming show, I think its pretty much a given there will be at least an E43 Coupe coming out probably sometime in 2017 as a 2018 model. Only waiting on the confirmation ... and the hope that they stay with the integrated nav screen as opposed to the new c-class design which looks like an aftermarket afterthought.

 

Good point. I have a C63AMG sedan and an E350 Coupe. They are dimensionally very close.
