Brake Pads Choice
New member, new owner of a 2012 E550 coupe experiencing the much-reported brake problems.
I've read every thread on brakes in the first 13 pages of this forum and I have the Centric rotor parts straight, but see no consensus on pads. The obvious choice would be Centric, but I've seen folks buy EBC. Is there any consensus on a choice for everyday driving?
TIA
Ken

Pelican Parts as Ferodo pads that are the same as OEM (even the part numbers on the pad) and cheaper. I just installed them with Centric Stoptech rotors to replace the OEM pads and rotors that warped after 10K miles.

As it turned out, all the (OEM) pads were near-new. Replaced the front rotors with Centric and the car now brakes as it should.
Thanks to all for your help.

Centric Pads
I replaced the front OEM with Centric ceramic Posi quiet and couldn't be happier. I used Akebono ACTs for the rears. Akebono apparently doesn't make them for the fronts. These Centrics are pretty low dust as well ... Grip is great, actually better than OEM in my opinion and quiet.

I suggest using Hawk pads in a car with this kind of power. They just flat perform better. I use them on my XKR and the difference from the original Ferodos is very noticeable. Another thing to mention is that it is very rare that a brake rotor will actually warp. What happens is that poor quality pads will deposit the metallic particles on the rotor during high heat stops by melting it into the disk and the rotor ends up with lumps of metal on it. This causes the pedal to shudder on stops. Its called pad deposition and is very common with the cheap pads that are OEM.

If the rotor is drilled, they cannot be turned down. Plain rotors can be turned and will be fine. My E550 has drilled rotors on the front so they would have to be replaced. I have had good luck with the Centric rotors from Rockauto.
