Instrument Cluster Removal

Anyone have instructions on how to remove the instrument cluster in a C207/A207? There are YouTube instructions for the W212 but it is obviously different with the 2-door.

Thank You!

Cluster removal

Did you ever find a video or instruction specific to the cluster trim removal? Have a 2016 E400 coupe C207. I need to pop out the cluster and clean the glass. Can’t find one specific to my car, most for w212. Probably could figure it out but I’m a bit timid to pull the trigger on it blind given the expense if I break it. Thx

By "trim", are you referring to the piece that encircles the gauges and sits just inside the binnacle? If so, let me know; it's pretty easy to remove.

Yes. Another poster put up an attachment from a service manual , looks like a wedge will just pop it out. Recommend unhooking the batteries before unplugging the cluster? Is unhooking battery going to cause a bunch of issues with memory, etc? Thanks for any help Dealer wanted to replace the whole cluster but I think it’s probably pretty easy to get it open to clean it .

I can't answer your battery question because I have not actually removed the gauges, but removal of the bezel (the trim piece shown in the upper right corner of the photograph grouping in the provided PDF) is very simple. In the picture, you're viewing the bezel from behind. Do not pull from the bottom, near the steering column; instead, gently insert a plastic trim removal tool or a flat-head screwdriver (wrapped in a soft, thin towel) between the top of the bezel and the surrounding binnacle enclosure and then grasp the edge of the upper bezel and gently pull it forward. In the image in the PDF, what you are detaching here are the #3 and #5 points. As the top of the bezel comes loose, you'll have only the two hooks at the bottom holding it in (#4 in the image in the PDF). This is much simpler than it may sound. Installation is the reverse of removal (start with the two bottom hooks and then push in the top).
