German site has configurator up and running for new E Coupe. No Brilliant Blue ... looks like Lunar Blue still available (although referred to as Cavansite Metallic), and an Emerald Green color ... plus normal whites/greys/silvers/blacks and the carry-over cardinal red. Wonder what the E50 will offer ...
Just saw a new C43 with sports package in a lovely new blue shade I haven't seen before from MB.
I like it generally, but I also really like the C-class and it does look like a big C-class. I especially like the back end, but I know some hate it. The Cabriolet will be of special interest to me.
Not a big fan of the ginormous 2 feet long lcd panel, but I guess you can get analog IP, if desired. If you can still get Carplay or Android on the center touch screen, I'd go with that.
At night, when parked up, I have once confused the new C coupe for the Renault Laguna Coupe. Something which could be said for the E, since it looks so familiar.
I actually like the rear of the E coupe more so than the front, however I make reference to Renault every time I see a new MB coupe. Although, thankfully I hardly see those renaults on the roads.
I think the larger engine variant and AMG versions will be the ones that are sought after. A lot of the pictures I see seem to be the smaller engine offering (totally guessing). No offense to 350 owners, but I think they look weak in comparison to the 550. I am hoping that is the deal here with the new generation E coupe.
In the original post, the red and white cars are noticeably different. Which one is what trim is my question. If I were to guess the white one is the larger engine. It doesn't quite seem AMG-enough to me, so I would guess it would be the E400/E550.
I'd agree, based on other pictures I've just found in looking at the engine bays of the two reveals. Looks like the red one is closest to the E300 with the 2.0 liter four rated at 241 hp, while the white one is most likely the E400 rated at 329 hp. Of interest to me seems to be the dropping of any conversation related to an E43 model with most of the conversation now centered around a 50th anniversary E50 with over 400 hp based on their new series of inline sixes to be released starting with the new S class ... no firm words about an E63.
I've found two new videos of this car. One with moving shots, seems to be official mercedes and another with a C vs. E comparsion. After seeing the videos I'm not as disappointment as before. The car looks much better than the spyshots show, although I would like a more defined side crease and a more unique rear end
Nice...but I'd have to agree with the comment about the cookie cutter approach that has taken been lately. It would seem kinda lazy from a corporate perspective. Although that same opinion could said of pretty much all the car makers these days. Except for the badging ,they all are much too similar..for example ,how many of you made the mistake (as I did) of thinking the latest model Ford Explorer was a Range Rover at a glance?? LMAO!!

If the initial roll-out of this new coupe doesn't meet sales expectations, I'm sure someone in MB corporate will just come up with the brilliant idea of slapping an AMG logo on the back and hiking the MSRP $20K. No engine upgrade as that would cost money and potentially eat into either real C63 or E63 sales. Just slap the AMG badge on the tail and call it a "special edition".

Ha, they are way ahead of you buddy! I expect the E43 Coupe to be along the same lines of the E43 sedan. It looks like a non-AMG car for the most part.
I took a E43 out for a short test drive late last year to see what this so-called AMG was like. Having had the chance to drive a couple of real AMGs, I can say from my opinion the E43 AMG is a AMG in name only. I can not see anyone who currently owns a real AMG wanting to buy the E43. Again, that us just my view.
Clearly the E43 was intended to be the replacement for the discontinued E550 sedan, but someone in MB Marketing had the bright idea to slap a AMG badge on the back and make a few minor changes and bingo! A much higher price tag and I'm sure lots of people who will pay that premium just for the badge. Sad thing is those folks will believe they are actually driving a AMG right up to the moment they encounter a real AMG, M4, M5 or S7. ;-))
Has anybody seen a photo of a 2017 North American spec E coupe? Will the rear have bumperettes, and if yes, will they look like those of the S-class coupe (marginally acceptable) or C-class coupe (hideously ugly)?
Sadly, the bumperettes are there! I think it's such an oversight for MB to design bumpers on their coupes that require bumperettes. The CLA and CLS don't have bumperettes!
I think these ones, which look like a mustache to me, fit somewhere between the S-class coupe (reasonably integrated, not that noticeable) and the C-class coupe (aptly described as hemorrhoids on one thread).
